Saw it last night. Average.

Like a boring version of Black Hawk Down

I was disappointed with it too - not so much with it being boring, but that it suffered from an identity crisis where it wanted to be a serious character study, while embracing all the American war movie cliches (despite a seeming attempt to avoid them), with unrealistic combat scenes and situations.

To be honest, can't believe it won an Oscar.

I saw Green Zone which was pretty good for a Matt Damon movie, But the whole way through they were trying to build to this suspenseful revelation that their (American) own politicians, Generals etc had lied and falsified information to start the war and I just sat there thinking wtf dorks.... the rest of us knew that before you even landed there

It's had to roll with the story when your first responses is "about bloody time". Tho I do admire the yanks making a big name star action movie about their own duplicity but kind of left me thinking jst how many wd have seen it and been horrified at the bad americans cause it was new to them

Green Zone is excellent. Knowing your taste in movies Downey I can safely say you will be a big fan.

Never once been tempted to watch Hurt Locker.

Hard Rain is the greatest film of all time.

Showed Broken Arrow to the missus the other night, not as great a response as I would have liked if I'm honest.

Hurt Locker was just so over-rated I could cry.  Loved seeing Guy Pearce die and also that general who is a guard on the Green Mile (in the top 10 best movies of all time) but other than that the next best thing was the credits.
