Good to see Lance come back, it was ridiculous that we dropped him to start with
He was playing like complete arse, which is why he was deservedly dropped. The break he's had has freshened him up. Prefer him coming off the bench but looks like he's gonna be back at fullback for a while.

Sounds like he's off to St Helens next season.
Hohaia signed a 4 year deal with St Helens. I always thought he was underutilized as playmaker years ago and has become a good fullback.

Not convinced at all by the Friend signing. What does this say to someone like Mara?
Train harder.
I really dislike Gold Coast and their style so am not a huge Friend fan. He's a grafter out of Dummy Half which is the kind of player Cleary likes.
Friend is probably one of the top 3 or 4 hookers in the competition. Great signing.
The Johnson thing is a bit unfair. He's been out injured for a while and has only just played his first game back. I'd be expecting Johnson to see some 1st grade action this season with Maloney at 6
Interesting bench. I wonder how they are going to use Locke off the bench
come on boys, big second half needed here.
We won a game. Woohoooo.
Can't see the Fish loosing his place at Fullback now

was great to finally get a win, pretty enjoyable game to watch, the fish looked good, generally the whole team looked better. was it just me or were there lots of forward passes called, more than usual
This is a big call but if Melbourne's Slater, Smith and Cronk don't get injured. Then I can see them winning this competition.
Doggies for 4 in a row!
Anyone else think 37,000 capacity at Owen Delaney is a bit ambitious?

A mate who went to the game said he thought it looked like there was considerably less than 14,600 people there.

Surely not.
There did look like there was about that many people there. Don't see how they can fit more then another 5000 people in there . That was from the t.v any way

I was surprised they got 14K. I always thought the capacity there was around the 10,000 mark
Maybe 30k is the capacity for concerts with punters on the field as well. Still quite high though.
Kevin Locke, tut tut

Rumoured signing for next year. Thoughts?
If it's true, we're paying him too much. Good, but not 1mill good
Yeah he is good, maybe getting a bit old but not worth a mil
Guess that means they wont re-sign Berrigan for next year, and have no faith in Heremaia & Mara to fill the hookers spot in the short term.
Poor Fish. :( hope he is okay.
Good win to the Warriors though :)

He was having a good game up until that happened, was a shame, hope its nothing bad.
Commentators mentioned that Berrigan gets another year if he plays 20 games for the club, what im sure he will, so makes the Friend link more strange.

We could do a Perth and bench him near the end of the season to stop that sort of clause kicking in.
I quite like Berrigan he is playing well. And the fact that he can play in a few different positions also helps

Long live the Fish.
Yup. Seems to be confirmed. Lance is heading to the Super League in the UK

Again. I don't know why I bother sometimes! (see post above yours! )
Lance's problem has always been that he isn't quite good enough in any one position to nail down a regular starting spot. Great off the bench though and it'll be sad to see him leave the Warriors. He's been great for us down the years.
yeah he's been easily the best utility player we've had....trouble with being a utlitiy is that you won't start often....not sure how he'll get a start at st helens.

It probably says a helluva lot more to Heremaia than it does to Mara.

I like the more dynamic player out of 9 which is why I am a fan of Mara. In the end the kid isn't going to want to sit around behind Friend for the next 3 or 4 seasons, we'll lose him.
The biggest challenge the Warriors have at the moment is how they bring through their unbelievably talented U20s while keeping enough experience to win comps. Brisbane and Canberra are doing it off the back of good 20s sides. It isn't a bad position to be in but it is a tough one to manage.
In four years time do we want to watch Shaun Johnson running around somewhere else because we decided we would stick with Maloney at 7 for two seasons of a decent 7 (but one unlikely to win us a comp) when we could have had Johnson as our 7 for the next 8-10 years with him being a Premiership winning 7 for 6 or 8 of those. All of this depends on these guys being able to make the step up though which is the great unknown.
Going back to my original point, im not a Friend fan. In a pack that will probably have some combination of Luck, Lillyman, Mannering and Packer for the next two years I dont think Friend is the 9 you need. Just my belief anyway.
The Johnson thing is a bit unfair. He's been out injured for a while and has only just played his first game back. I'd be expecting Johnson to see some 1st grade action this season with Maloney at 6
You think they wil give him in a run in the halves before John? Or before giving Seymour a chance again?
My Johnson point was more an example of what could be a wider problem. What to do when Tuimivave becomes ineligible for 20s? Essentially you are having to make decisions on the future of some of these guys without having ever given them a chance at first grade.
The other one, why bring back Steve Rapira when you have about 45 back rowers/emerging front rowers in the club? I understand the building depth thing but that has to be balanced against professional sportmen actually wanting to play.
Fair point, but we are always going to lose good young players. It's the nature of the beast unfortunately. I suppose we have given the likes of Locke, The Fish, Elijah Taylor, Lousi, etc their opportunity.
I reckon Johnson will get his shot this year. He's on the bench for the Vulcans this week, so hopefully he comes through that okay. John has looked okay, but not a lot more so I think he might drop down the pecking order. Funnily enough, he's in the 13 jumper for the Vulcans at the weekend. I'm sure Seymour will get another shot, but I think he's just seeing out this season before we get shot of him.
Rapira is injured at the moment, but I agree with you. I was never convinced that we needed to sign him.
No Mara named for the Vulcans at the weekend, dunno what's going on there.
Poor performance by the Warriors, capped off with Berrigan breaking a hand.
Couple of bad calls by the ref, and they always seem to lose their composure.

some silly calls, especially that one at the end where packer knocks it back towards us, then watmough knocks it on, and manly get the scrum as we knocked it on? Plus mateo getting penalised when he had the ball stripped, called knock on, questions why then gets penalised, next play they score
Granted we didnt deserve to win by a long shot, but a bit of consistency in rulings wouldnt go a miss
First part of a match I've seen this season and I've got to say the Warriors looked pretty poor.
