The Palace on Wheels - Incredible India in January 2016

I am thinking of booking this tour from January 7th 2016 to January 14th 2016.

It's about NZD $8,162 to do it as a single traveller with a cabin to yourself. That drops to about NZD $6,136 if you have two people sharing a twin cabin.

So it would be rather good if someone I knew fancied coming along for the adventure.

Anyone interested?

Is it strictly a tourist train or is it a long hall domestic train as well?

One of the best things about traveling by train is hanging with locals on board, spent many a night on trains in europe and asia, usually travel in coupe which is four people per berth or what the russians call platzkart which is pretty much a hostel, bunk beds with little seperators. The best thing is meeting locals, sharing food, and even getting advice and lifts to hard to reach places.

Ther's going to be a lot of travelling by train and meeting the locals.

I am probablly going to Kolkata to New Delhi that way, for example, and might spend a week from New Delhi to the Chandigarh, Simla and Amritsar area as well.

But this trip is a luxury tourist train.

Check out the link above, it (and the other pages on the left hand menu on the site) explains all about it.

Planning on doing something similar with family as part of a big subcontinent trip after I graduate. Let me know what it's like?

You know we belong together...

Will do - definitely. Might even be a post trip photo blog.

One of my RBB mates and his wife might be coming with me...
