Needing some advise regarding to accommodation in Welly for a year.

Been accepted into an Otago Uni course based in Wellington...so will be up there from Feb til November..

What type of studio/apartments to suit one person are available in Wellington.

The University recommends two.. The Southern Cross and Basin Reserve Apartments so ideally they are my preferences but I want to know what other people recommend.

The other option is flatting which I am yet to explore. How easy is it to get a lease for 10 months?

Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

If your interested on flatting and don't have anyone to flat with then Trade Me's flatmates wanted section if probably your best bet. As long as your looking at flatmates wanted and not 'to rent' you most likely wont be the lease holder unless there's a rolling lease which, in that case, you wont find getting loose from the place difficult in 10 months.

1 bedroom studio apartments can cost anything from 250-400. Average of about 320 or something though. Plus adding on power and other costs it would be quite expensive.

Flatting would be best. You can find decent places for something like $200 including expenses.

There is this website that is good for flat hunting or rental properties.

type studio into the keyword box.

Also, finding a flat through a private listing is reccomended. Rental companies can charge stupid fees that you will not get back, and are hard to deal with.

Don't go to the basin, almost entirely first years with cans of double brown and raspberry vodka

Yeah sorry J82, only first years.

If I knew where the other sparkly gay draculas were hiding you'd be the first to know.

I lived in a tiny studio in a complex on Webb St for a year, was around $220 incl power and you're close to everything. Think it was called Urbane, but there's a few apartment buildings around that area but not sure on $$. It did get quite noisy on the weekends but I guess that's what you get for being right in town.

As previous posters already mentioned TM is your best bet and there are heaps of places that are already furnished too, just check it out.

I am actually trying to rent out my flat in Wellington from either early Dec or mid Jan (lease is up in mid Dec, but current tennants will stay to mid Jan).

It is probably a bit more expensive than what a first year Uni student can afford, but Andy Barron would be your neighbour.

PM me if interested.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight
