The Stone Roses have announced they are reforming for two Manchester gigs in June 2012 followed by a world tour.

Hell Yeah!!!

Wouldn't waste my money seeing them live again (of the very few things I can remember about Spike Island, the sh*te vocals of Ian Brown was a stand out!)
but second to none with their music.

Is this true or is it just Fools Gold?

Is this true or is it just Fools Gold?
Sometimes I fantasise, but this is the resurrection.

I saw them shortly after John Squire left for the first time. They were more like Guns and Roses than the Stone Roses and Ian Brown cannot sing live.
Still people who saw them in their pomp reckon they were fantastic.

over-rated then and appalling now I'd venture
Bass Player did better in Primal Scream
that they were considerably 2nd place to the Happy Mondays (not a particulary good band as well) says to much of the wrong drugs were being consumed.

Fools Gold is excellent as not a member of the baggy scene I was more into my hardcore, punk, psychobilly, trash, Gong, Velvets etc, but part of the times was that you hung about with lots of people and you listened one minute to Metallica the next next De La Soul and everything else in between most of the folk I knew loved the Stones Roses wether they were loved up or not.
The Stone Roses was an epic record. Mondays were very good but I'm not sure they quite defined the times as the Roses. The Stone Roses were the face of a movement, the Happy Mondays came after.
edit: until later on when the press got hold of stuff.
edit again: off the top of my head the Stone Roses were operating successfully before the Happy Mondays.

At the time thought they were *******! But NOW, hey, I like 'em. How did that happen??
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.
