Do they still do this in your local Subway? Ask you if you would like only swiss, cheddar or old english cheese, when mozzarella is free of charge next to them. I went to a subway recently and they had mozzarella as an extra cost now, but was out of town and went to one that it was still free. Mozzarella dominates any cheese, especially if you get it toasted. Is it still free where you are? did you know you could even get it?Luis Garcia2010-09-30 10:34:25

They just ask what cheese I would like without rattling off a list.  I get smoked and I never get it toasted anyway.

Another question is, why does Subway just taste like Subway no matter what you choose?
I like tautologies because I like them.

100% agree. So much variation yet it's always just the same average sandwich.

Fuck this stupid game

At my store - Lambton Square.
We do not charge for Mozzerella cheese, But it is kept out of sight of customers to avoid everyone using it.

Mozzerella cheese is for the Italian Herbs & Cheese bread and costs about $70-$80 a bag. Its the same expensive mainland stuff you see in the supermarket just in catering size.

If everyone started asking for Mozzerella cheese we would have to start charging because it is an ingredient purely for the bread and costs a sh*t load.

Carrot also costs a bit and we usually motor through it. But it is also the forgotten vege, so I dont think its just people being cheap.

People may not realise, but Subway does not get their vegetables as cheap as places kike McDonalds and vege's are what costs the most as it. An order that we got today of 12 bags of lettuce, two boxes of tomatoes and a box of capsicums cost $250. And we go through all of that on a good day.

ALSO! Subway's prices are changing tomorrow with the GST rise. Some things will be cheaper some more expensive.

Plus! Subway will be on target soon exposing problems with double meat portions and the likes.
Not my store though, I run a tight ship.
The Sub Of The Day will now be $4.40.

I find that sliced meats taste practically the same once all the veges are on. Just not things like the BMT and Spicy Italian.

Hot foods taste plenty different to me. Perhaps get double meat?
Get Chicken Fillet and Salami/perpperoni.

Our contracted supplier is struggling.

I dont usually say carrot because its towards the end of the veges and I want to get away from the customer.

And subway attracts some real pricks.
I put myself out the back over lunch today because I was in a shouty mood today.

Because I always order the same thing.

(Roast beef, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayonnaise. No cheese.)

I might give that a try.

I think the main reason it always tastes the same to me is because I load it with almost everything to get my money's worth. I want all the veges too because that's what makes it healthy isn't it?

Fuck this stupid game

Nah, it's all that salt and pepper they spray on it at the end. That's the healthy sh*t right there.

Three for me, and two for them.

My next sub will be: Oat foot-long, hold the meat, hold the cheese, lettuce, heavy salt, heavy pepper.

I'm watching my figure.

An ex workmate used to get just meatballs and cheese, no salad at all. It was a very interesting way to go.

i always get mozzarella. demand it.

Also demand extra of everything. If they are going to charge me for cheap as veggies then I may as get my moneys worth. I usually get so much because i demand so much.

I'm a prick of a customer

What is everyone's favourite bread there? I always choose Roasted Garlic, absolutely love it. If that's not available then Italian.

Three for me, and two for them.

Hot tip:

For Dominos Wedges pizza remove onion and add any other topping with no surcharge (except chicken I think). Add extra mozarella for crazy cheesy pizza, cherry tomatoes go nicely too :)

Works for some other pizzas too.

Roasted Garlic.
Although Italian is far more popular.

I recommend not having cucumbers. They make the sandwich too crunchy; messes up the texture.
Gherkins are a fine substitute.
