Has Iran asked for their money back? That is a most interestting story. Someone is very rich and keeping quiet.
Yes. Recently.
"In 2013 the (British) Foreign Office issued visas to a group of officials in Tehran to allow them to visit London to pursue the case in the courts. 'On landing at Heathrow their passports were removed, their visas were revoked and they were held for a number of days in asylum centres.'" NB Britain and Iran have had diplomatic and trade sanctions operating for years.
NNB The editor of Private Eye then notes: " Bizarrely, the tank deal with Iran also features on the (UK) Treasury's list of deals over which Iran still owes the UK money, as the Shah's upfront payment included funds borrowed from banks which were guaranteed by the UK's old Export Credit Guarantee Dept - 28.44 million pounds to be exact."
However, of course the UK still owes Iran back the 450 mill for the undelivered tanks.
