Thinking of booking to go here as Pacific Blue are doing some pretty cheap flights next winter...
 
but...I have no idea where to stay? What is the main tourist area there??
 
Any recommendations for hotels / resorts / things to do also welcome!

You have to go to one of the outer Islands if you want the Island experience of blue water white sand etc. The main Island is pretty busy and not really anything to do other than the Tonga Market which is like going to a school fair!  Sorry can't remember the names of any of the places!

Although I do recommend catching a bus!! They have reggae music pumping and everyone sung along onm the bus we caught! We caught a bus to the other side of the main island and saw this pre historic gateway or something like that. Kind of like a tongan Stonehenge!
