Anyone had theres out while being an adult?

I thought they only take them out when you were younger.

While randomly searching the internet today. I came across a video of a kid getting his taken out without going under or any anesthetic.
Didn't watch but the comments suggested it was something nasty.

They only take them out when they are inlarged and nothing else will work. Apparently the pain is worse when you are older than if you were to get them taken out when you are younger

interesting, i get tonsilitis twice or so every year and the doctor keeps telling me the are getting bigger and more prone to infection each time i get it. hasnt mentioned taking them out yet though

This year has been the worse for me with tonsilitis, went and saw the ENT at Hutt Hospital who had a look and within two weeks of her looking they were taken out

do you have to get referred to an ENT? or can you just go along?

I got refereed by my GP as this had been occuring for 4 months without improvement
