I used to not understand it, but it's actually quite useful. Now I use it more than facebook. It's good for following news from a variety of sources, so it's useful for me. Great for football scores and the like too.

While we're talking twitter, I'm wondering whether we should adopt a universal Phoenix hashtag. I often like to follow people's comments/reactions on twitter during games but everyone is using different hashtags, or none at all. I'm thinking either #Nix or #WPFC, because they're short. Thoughts?

Not on twitter. Can see why some might like following certain tweets for news, but I use RSS feeds for news/audio/video and I am fine with that.

I can see twitter being better for live updates on football games and personal micro-blogging due to its ease of use, but, especially for personal tweets, I think it is a waste of time.

I was the same as Bullion, I still use RSS etc but it's just another channel to embrace :-)

I just use mine to see articles on the nix', like from stuff, or the herald, or the dom post, so I don't have to look.

I use it solely to follow F1 drivers who seem to lead fairly interesting lives outside of racing, and once racing its cool too.

Since these guys don't have as much followers you can often talk to a lot of them too.

The lack of a notification other than an email when you get a direct message sh*ts me off. I check my twitter more often than my personal email and sometimes my DMs sit there forever.

And @azevo, everyone talks a lot of sh*t on twitter, but I probably talk the most!

Always struck me as lame and while I might have the wrong idea I waste enough time as it is so if I can communicate with everyone I need to (which I can) then I don't really need twitter, so regardless of its positives I won't use it.

Also is irritating how popular it is amongst celebrities and that's all you hear about.  Stuff.co.nz used to do a story every week with what the celebrities were tweeting - was ridiculous, I don't care if Lindsay Lohan just got a new pair of shoes.

@WindRainPhoenix. For those who don't know - it's an unofficial Phoenix & NZ footy twitter feed, originally made to fill the gap due to the lack of an official one. Mostly Nix based but the national teams, ASB Prem, and futsal tend to get mentioned a fair bit. And I've got a bit more leeway to take the piss out of the ref/opposition/opposition support than the official one

Personal account is @AnzacJack. Mostly use it for getting NHL and MLS updates when I'm out of the house, but now I've started using it more to communicate.

A few of the Gooner lads are on there too... (oh - and mine is in my sig).

Started to use if for work, can see the advantage of an instant web based message system. Could have some in handy for some of the bigger events i've worked on.

Still figuring it out though. Its like there's a personal and a business twitter but where do they meet?

The same adage applies to everything on the net, garbage in=garbage out. no point talking if you have nothing to say, (except on this forum on a Saturday night it seems)

I use it alot now, more than Facebook, it is the most up to date 'News Site' there is, all breaking news will be there first, including rumour etc.

I think people who don't understand it, think it is Narcissistic for the average Joe Bloggs, but i use it to follow the various English Football Reporters, Papers, as well as NZ TV reporters etc...

It will become more popular and it will become a huge source of advertising, (ie you choose to follow, say Harvey Norman, and they post specials, etc specifically for Twitter) It is the best place for companies to announe new products etc too.

It will be like Facebook down the track, in the sense that most people will have a Twitter account, and it is up to you have much iinfo you share, plenty of people don't share anything, but just use it to get info on things they're interested in.

I thought i didn't tweet much but then saw i have made over 200 Tweets, so the usage can creep up on you
