Stuart Clark. Like his work rate and seems like a decent bloke. Probably the only Aussie cricketer i like too.

Steve Price. Probably the most liked Aussie this side of the Tasman.

Three for me, and two for them.

I don't think so.

Personally Symonds seems quite cool.

Symonds - no mercy, sweep the leg attitude
Emerton - never say die, bit filthy in the tackle when he needs to be
Gilly - wicketkeeper revolutionaire (is that a word?!!)

Ross Aloisi!! Nuff said.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Not too many Aussie sports people I like. It's hard to when TV and newspapers here are every day trumpeting how bloody marvellous Oz is at everything. The arrogance is suffocating!

That said I have to let you in on a dirty little secret, which is, ahem, that I was cheering madly for the Socceroos at the World Cup. So I'll nominate Vinnie Grella, John Aloisi and Luca Neill as players and people who I have a lot of respect for.

Maybe someone could start a 'Aussie sports people I dislike' thread. I'm sure we'd see some constructive and fair-minded criticism.

I cheered for them as well. I'm unashamed of my position of supporting NZ and then Australia.

Oh, and let's not forget that fine Australian, Sir Edmund Hillary. According to a book published a few years back he is one of the 50 greatest Australian sports people of all time.

I'm the same, except for me it's mostly genetic

I still support the Kangaroos over the Kiwis (tried switching before the Centenary test and look what happened!) but I've taken to supporting Argentina over both the Wallabies and the All Blacks. I cheer for NZ in everything else  - especially football, which is the important one anyway right?

Oh, and I support Dragons over the Warriors and the Hawks over the Breakers, and before the A-League I supported the Wolves over the Kingz. Like smithy said, you can take the boy out of Nowra...

Steve Price and Ross Aloisi for sure, they've built bridges that will last a long time and the respect Kiwi fans in general have for them is very high. I also liked John Newcombe (Tennis), Greg Norman (Golf) & Crocodile Dundee (Croc Wrestling). All good value till injuries took over.

Bradman was a tight arsed, grumpy sh*t bag by all accounts. Not too many people who had anything to do with him have a good word to say about him- a bastard as a captain who never got a round in, and a prick of chairman of selecters who sneered at those he considered beneath him - which, to be fair, was everyone.

Surprised Robbie Slater's name hasn't come up yet!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Good call: saw a doco about this guy and you're right, he's a genuinely nice bloke. Always had a very un-Australian habit of graciousness in victory. But then, being Russian he doesn't have those convict roots, unless they are of the Gulag variety.

i think thats unfair, i respect Richie beyond all other commentators, he is a true legend. Bill Lawry is a douche, and shouldnt commentate, i dont think he would stop his ridiculous love affair with victorians even if he had a gun pointed to his head and told not to say anything about them.

among others, Price and Lockyear(sp)
also gilly, because he seems a good dude, and even tho austalian, still one of the great batsman to watch play, if he aint playing NZ i get disapointed every time he gets out. only disapointment was his celebrating onfield after the 2nd test, uncalled for after they were unfairly given a test match
