SF Events is pleased to be hosting the inaugural Wellington Cricket Sixes Tournament in January 2009.  Cricket Sixes is a great opportunity to support a community based event and encourage active participation in outdoor recreation.

What is Cricket Sixes?

Cricket Sixes is a shortened version of 20/20 or one day cricket with where games are competed in one hour. Each game is played between two teams of six players and consists of five six ball over�s bowled by each side. Each member bowls one over, with the exception of the Wicketkeeper.

We have an established relationship with the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour ACST who has won several International Cricket Council awards. At a meeting earlier this year the ACST endorsed the development of a New Zealand cricket event with a view to becoming an invitational event on the ACST Calendar in 2010. Our aim is to turn the Wellington Cricket Sixes into a global event to rival some of the other major cities such as Honk Kong, Phuket, Sydney, and Chang Mai.

Event overview:

�         The tournament to be played over the course of one day on Sunday 18 January (Wellington Anniversary Weekend), with of view of extending the tournament to a weekend event in the future.

�         The tournament will be a World Cup type format. Minimum 12 teams and a max of 20.  All abilities welcome.  The first year will be local cricket teams from Wellington with a view to have teams from the greater Wellington Region & international teams in the second year.

�         Kilbirnie Park will be the venue for this year�s Wellington Sixes based between Wellington central city and the airport, Kilbirnie Park has three spacious cricket pitches, making it the eastern suburbs most utilised sports venue.

�         Already we have endorsements & support from Wellington City Council Events, Cricket Wellington, Asian Sixes Cricket Tour & local businesses.

�         Cost - $160 per team ($20 per player in a team of eight).

�         BBQ & refreshments on hand all day.

�         Local band to play at the after party.

�         Fantastic prizes!

All money raised from the Wellington Cricket Sixes 2009 will be given to Wellington Cricket to be put towards their junior cricket development programs.
