Black Watch, very good, noticed some of the old dears in the front row looked a bit like stunned mullets with the language in the play.

Nothing wrong with the sound, unlike the deaf buggers who have been writing to the DP.

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

Yes i enjoyed Black Watch thought it was brilliantly choreographed although nothing new in the storyline (bored young working class blokes attracted to the prospect of legalized gang warfare in some exotic foreign part only to find that war is more than just male bonding and dodgy solicited sex and indeed can cause some hideous psychological and physical damage to the soldiers involved  )
Never a dull moment in the whole show though but i do think there was some justification in the criticisms regarding the acoustics ,that venue is crap for sound always has been and is probably less than suitable for a show such as this ,i reckon it was put on there because of its size and the need to get as many bums on seats as possible.

My favorite  show so far was the United Kingdom Ukulele orchestra at the town hall ,their version of the theme tune  from the movie Shaft was outstanding as was their brilliant cover of Anarchy in the UK ,all done with ukuleles amazing !

Fringe Festival > Arts Festival.

Fringe = Quality performances, excellent value for reasonable prices
Arts Festival = Poncey intellectual crap that overshadows the awesomeness of the Fringe Festival and forces the Cuba Street Carnival to be biannual rather than annual

That being said, I saw Gravity and Other Myths tonight, it was pretty good, started kinda slow for my tastes  but on the whole it was great fun and started off really strongly. It's koha, but well worth spending money on.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to see much for Fringe Festival due to time constraints, but I did see "Are We There Yet?", which was AWESOME. The premise was great (Being stuck in traffic during the last hour before Armageddon)  and the performance lived up to that.

Well not sure about the poncey intellectual   bit,
After suffering  Bro Town ,the stage version! at the Official Festival  ,half baked , boring and completely moronic in spite of the ingratiating  (anything home grown is brilliant)hand wringing , patronizing John Campbells involvement! it was all a big  image over substance  YAWN living off the TV shows success and about as intellectual as Captain Hurricane !

Im starting to think that the use of old punk/new wave classics is (a bit like my head)  starting to wear a bit thin ,I  never the less enjoyed the ukulele revisionist version of the pistols classic.
I went  to see Nouvelle Vague last week at the big tent thing and it did feel a bit  like an RSA  punk rock survivors meeting  ,a couple of french girls singing easy to swallow jazzy ,folky, funky versions of the  Buzzcocks,Joy Division ,Pistols ,Dead Kennedys ,Cramps songs ,it was all done very well and with a dry comedic deadpan twist ,but all i could hear was the distant sound of a nurse saying "come on Mr Jambo sit up and eat your  liquidized  meat, veg and punk rock , its much easier to swallow now is it  not?)
We now have endless bands doing punk covers From the Hayseed Dixie's Blue grass punk on Banjos  to Richard Cheese Lounge punk Vegas style  to Nouvelle Vague jazz/lounge/nice french birds  punk  to Ukulele punk and so on and so forth,it all seems a bit to recipe and processed.
Middle aged  disposable income punk maybe!
Anyway i think i need my mid-afternoon nap!
