I haven't posted anything on trade me for about 2 years. In the last month, I've posted 2 items and been pinged for $20 in fees?

I know that a lot of people look at the site, but is it really worth it?

They've always taken a percentage of succesful transaction, but have heard it use to cost 20 bucks or something to put up a property to let and now its closer to 100. when i did it a year ago it was 70

It is one advantage over Ebay that they only charge if it sells, but the charges can be a little extortionate.

I had to sell a few things and was generous, started the auctions at $1 reserve and some got to more than a buck others didn't.  The fee on $1 sales - 55 cents.  Thanks Trademe I made a whopping 45 cents on that.  Bollocks.  There shouldn't be a fee for meazley amounts.  Highway Robbery

Harry, that's what I thought too. Damn, had a few things lined up to go on there. Perhaps we could start a YF trade off type thread so we advertise our stuff on here with no fees??

There is a free version, but I can't remember what it is called and it isn't very popular.

And the second it got popular they'd start charging you.

I listed my car on Monday and farked up (quit likely wasn't entirely sober after Saturday) and ended the auction yesterday instead of next Tuesday... emailed them asking if I could have my car relisted at no cost given my obvious (and entirely human) error - do you think I even got a reply?

Disappointing.

For those of you selling things for a buck why not try freecycle? You'll feel a lot better than being creamed by Fairfax!

Why?

Need more details, what are you selling? Is it rare? Does it appeal to NZers or people overseas? Will it be hard to send long distances?

If you want to fob off your old cricket bat then chuck it on trademe

If you have a real pair on Nike Air Yeezys then put them on ebay

Be aware you will are going to sign up to ebay you will probably to sign up to ebay Australia and you have to sign up to Paypal too.
