Castlepoint is cool. The seals are.. friendly.

Watching the sun set over Mt. Ruapehu when the entire mountain turned pink was pretty awesome as well.yomcat2008-08-21 18:18:46

Rotorua! Really is just amazing, sure it may smell but it is a wonderful place!
But in all seriousness, some of the more remote beaches of the coromandel are great. You can have a fire, well we do, and just sit there and watch the sunset. Very cool!bopman2008-08-21 18:19:47

Parts of the west coast of the south island are really nice.  It's almost rainforest (just not tropical) and the glaciers are amazing.

I haven't actually been there, but the Fiordland National Park looks beautiful as well.

Milford Sounds and Stuart Island are cool. Fiordland in general, Especially Lake Manapuri are the south Islands best places imo (well Stauart Island isn't south Island but meh)

Oh and The Abel Tasman.

North Islands best places are Mt. Naki, Rotorua and the bay of Islands.Gangsta!2008-08-21 20:13:18

The tongariro crossing is amazing, when you reach the highest part of it and you look back across the valley you've just walked up across the mt taranaki it is a very cool feeling (then you realise you have another 4 hours to walk)

Scott Basin around Queenstown.  An awful 3 hour trek up there, but beautiful views, wildlife if you can find it, and the water can be drunk straight from the river (which used to be snow) and it's so cold and good.

Waihi Beach. Nearish to Tauranga. Quiet place with regular hot and sunny weather (even in winter). Awesome getaway.

Te Araroa way up there on the tip of the East Coast, my wife was born there. it's very picturesque, great fishing and very peaceful.  Petrol is expensive as though so make sure you have enough to get you to Opotiki or Gizzie.

wrong - you live in a insignificant, piss-pot little place, that can be compared to a boil on the arsehole of the world.  Just cause a country has a couple of mountains, and a few lakes doesn't make it a great place to live.

Do you all really think that we couldn't start a thread like this about 90% of the countries in the world, posting photos to show how amazing they are?

New Zealand can't survive without Aussie.. look what is owned by Aussie in NZ.. banks.. shops..supermarkets etc..

As far as I know Scotland doesn't rely on the English for these things, nor to the English rely on the other 3 countries for the same.

Aussie has invaded NZ.. in the economic sense.

The greatest place in New Zealand is on the corner of Taranaki and Dixon

Seriously, just going in the bush here is great - I've had many bushwalks or tramps in this country that make me feel (slightly) less homesick. NZ is a gorgeous country once you get away from habitation.

what are you drinking/taking??????
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Geographically speaking, he's correct, we have everything here. It's just people such as politicians and the political correctness brigade that are ruining it.
