Unless you want to work in a pub in London, in which case it's compulsory to be a Kiwi or an Aussie.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

My wife worked i a pub in London. I preferred the other side of the bar. Spent almost as much time there as she did.

Pub was Hamilton Hall, in Liverpool Street (ironic 'cos I'm from Hamilton and she was from Liverpool)

Liverpool? She wasn't the bouncer in the bar, was she?

And when they catch you sneaking in to the country in the back of a lorry, they will shake your hand, welcome you to the country, give you a free council house with a life-time worth of dole, and encourage you to bring not just your family over, but the whole village aswell.

I know you dont think so, but we dont really care about Scotland that much. You love to hate us, but we dont care, 'cause your not really good at much are you?

Cheers ginger and phil!

They don't need to sneak into the country, just hop on the flight from Gdansk to Peterborough, and with a cheeky smile the Borders & Immigration officer will welcome you with a hearty, 'Welcome to the UK Dariusz' - your local bleeding heart liberal town council will ensure that there is a Polish community centre for you, we've now abolished all local holidays and now only celebrate the holidays our ethnic groups celebrate so as to not offend anyone.
Please don't laugh at the bewildered expressions of the locals when sitting in the GPs for your free NHS treatment, they are only expressing their disbelief that they feel a stranger in their own country, whilst watching the communities they've known for generations disappear before their eyes.

I've long been a supporter of immigration, but I think 1.5 million immigrants from Eastern Europe to the UK since 2004 is just too much too soon. The government haven't put any strategy into dealing with so many people arriving into the country, and there are desperate shortages of housing, schools, doctors to support the massive change that has occurred in such a short period of time.

I think there should be a hold on the expansion of the EU for at least 15 years to allow the UK (and I suppose Ireland, France, & Germany) come to terms and settle after this most recent wave of massive immigration

The working holiday visa gets you in for 2 years but yuo can only work for a period of 12 months over the course of the 2 year period.

You also have to take sh*t from UK customs everytime you re-enter the UK holding a briefcase, wearing a suit, or a smile that suggests you're employable.

They're about to change the visa reg's as well to move to a complex points system which will cut out many who were elegible for the Highly Skilled Migrant Visa status.

Regarding the standard holiday visa you could stay here for 6 months from memory. But they're cutting that back to three months and unless you are willing to have a relative shell out a couple thousand pounds for you as a guarantee, you can't stay longer (though I guess you could pop over to France and back to get a visa renewal).

Oh, the joys of EU. For my money, Croatia should steer clear of it for some foreseeable future. But I'm sure they won't.

On the upside, the English football team may benefit from Croatia joining EU...el grapadura2008-03-18 10:04:41

Thats why the BNP are the fasting growing national party in Britain... hope they get enough prestige to influence immigration.

2 world wars and 1 world cup!

Oh and I suppose you can count that sub-class sport, egg-ball, which we've won aswell, recently.

Because I'm English, and I like it. Only thing I'd miss is the Nix really. Contemplating whether to move down to Welly for a couple of months til the season finishes!
