Yellow Fever Whisky Appreciation Thread
Really enjoying this lately:
Its nearly Duty Free time. Giddy Up!!!
Brilliant!
"By far the most polarising schism, though, separates drinkers of single malts and blends.
The former believe blend drinkers to be an inferior species who get around the suburbs in Holden Commodores and enjoy Mathew Reilly novels. The latter deride the single malt crowd as urban snobs with ironic facial hair and an unhealthy obsession with tweed."
My favourite bit:
""I'd never say anything bad about blends," he says. "After all, some of my best friends drink blends. Mind you, some of my best friends are idiots."
Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 1ltr + Lagavulin 16yr 700ml waiting for me at Duty Free Stores Auckland Airoprt when I depart for Australia for Christmas on Wednesday.
Merry Christmas ahead!!!
Quinta Ruban is very tasty!
This year I'm mostly tasting;
Glenlivet 12yr
Bruichladdich Rocks
I was actually mildly disappointed with Bruichladdich The Rocks. It's not 'poor', it just didn't stand out for me.
We need a testing night so I can try these different brands and blends ?
I'll have a chat to #Chris resident #Whisky (Bugger spell check) expert.
Hello Lagavulin my old friend
Ive come to tipple you again...
Whoah oh...glenlivin on a prayer
Take my glass and I'll break it I swear
Tonight's choice:
Dad gets 9 single malts for his 65th (Saturday just gone) and serves me this trot
Was it a good blend Chris?
Well I've been drinking my Tullamore Dew that I got duty free(Honeymoonstylee) & it appears to be working fine \m/ COYN \m/
edit:I know,it's whiskey but who cares
edit:whoops prob evry1 who reads this thread - sorry
Scottish for superb!
Finally gave my babies a home in my new house! Only took 3 months
They look lonely, perhaps they would like some company next Sunday night after I finish work?
Lagavulin 16 - approve
Just watched a brilliant documentary on the National Geographic channel about Sir Ernst Shackleton's trip to Antartica and the case of whisky found. How did it last and tadte and could the blend be reproduced. Absolutely fascinating stuff to watch even for non Whisky drinkers.
Havent had a whisky for a few weeks.
Might have a wee tipple tonight...
Glenkinchie 12 - lovelovelove
Party at Brandons, just bring only your glass.
Just had to relocate my collection to make the house more child friendly. I have 7 more bottles than I remember.
Pro: Having children has a positive effect your whisky collection
Con: I have no time to enjoy it ?
Having a wee sip of Bowmans 12 year old single malt. No as great as I was expecting but pleasant enough.
pleasant enough - key words right there.
slainte
Just left ex-boss's place in rural France. What would you like as a thank you prezzie? Bottle of Jamieson's please.
Done. 25 euros at Netto down the road.

Next door. Gironde.
Stayed at a place near Grolejac last year that belonged to a friend's ex-boss. Just sounded momentarily like a weird coincidence
I've currently got:
Ardbeg 10 (my go-to whisky)
Laphroaig PX Cask
Talisker Dark Storm
Jura 16
Welcome to the thread. You can hardly go wrong with Ardbeg 10yr old.
It really is delicious. And it was only £33 duty free for a litre...
You know what I like about whiskey?
The FFA can't take it away from me.
Shout outs to Tullamore, looking forward to a time when I can afford something nicer on a regular basis.
