Ah thanks for that, didn't think to check if there were other days, only saw Saturday.
Capital Football Cancellations
any ideas on what the format for these cups will be? Will there be further games for the losers etc? Trying to work out when our 'last' game will be to schedule an end of season shindig. Struggling to find any info apart from here
To the best of my knowledge- when you are knocked out the season is over
Any rules on what happens if it's a draw at 90 minutes? Extra time or straight to penalties? We start at 7.40pm on Monday so assume the lights would turn off before we could get an extra half hour finished.
Straight to pens is what we were told.
With all these extra cups being played at the end of the season due to very few cancellations, why not just make all the leagues 12 team in the future, especially since there has been an increased numbers of turfs in the past few years...
Difficult to predict if an extended season is likely to happen again. We had unusually good weather this winter and think it was the first season since 1997 with no cancellations for some grades. Other years we'd still not have regular season finished yet. 12 team leagues would end up eating into these spare weeks in August, and then if there are cancellations it could end up overlapping with the start of summer sport seasons to get it finished.
yea that'd be an extra 4 games per team right? that'd pretty much require zero cancellations across the board to be finished in time for summer sport
The way the leagues are going l reckon they'd fit in 22 weeks of football. More and more turfs, more global warming so less cancellations, more teams going to Sunday league so less pressure on Saturday fields.
Maybe not all leagues but I definitively think a majority could move to 12, provide more value for the sharkloads of cash that teams pay CF and NZF. Do it.
I reckon even if Cap 3 up. The season is too short. CL ok at 10,12 is maybe better allows 2 to go down.

Yeah I reckon CL and maybe CP stay 10 teams but below that go to 12.
But if all went to 12 that could work too. I don't think midweek games are completely ridiculous for catch up games. Especially if the expectation is set at the the start of the season and draws are advised well enough ahead.
11 team Leagues
more midweek games will see more teams make the move to Sunday league.
The odd midweek game is ok with some notice but would prefer not to play midweek every week. Not always simple to get out to say Island Bay or Petone with ample time for changing and warmup before a 6pm kickoff on a weekday if you work in town. Also 8.15pm in Petone (we had one of these this season) is a fairly late kickoff for a 90 minute game on a weeknight if you've also got a half hour drive home after that.
Ideal is probably something like 6.45 or 7 so most people should be able to get there without too much of a rush, and you won't be getting home and having dinner at 10.30. But I do understand that in order to get 2 games in before the lights go off 1 has to start pretty early.
hmm week 2 will be a challenge
Yeah. Even if it doesn't rain again from here most fields will be screwed for weeks if they are played on.
Easter Friday game...as Cyclone Cook hits Wellington on Friday.
Wellington
* The storm will reach the capital in the early hours of Friday morning
* It is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain to Wellington
Cancellations are in http://websites.sportstg.com/assoc_page.cgi?c=1-42...
Main ones are Cap 4, Cap 5 and Cap 9 postponed
people will get wet
seems eveything not on turf in Cap 5 and below is binned.
Shaping up to be the third weekend in a row of mass cancellations?
Looks like Mass changes, Cap 4ish and down cancelled.
Have other grades had midweek catch up games on turf? Keep expecting that to happen to us, but hasn't yet. They must be running out of extra weeks.
Cap 8 still on after last 2 weeks canned. Just in time for the weekend I can't play!
usually end of august as cricket starts in September, that was my understanding. For us theres 3 games left with 4 weekends to go. haven't been this close in a few years
Pretty sure cricket doesn't start until October. But they do try finish before September
