scorer/ scorers ? Giddy up

Deserved win by Upper Hutt coming from 1 nil down at halftime to win 2 - 1 despite missing two regular starters.  UH Goals from Cameron McLachlan and Steven Thomas. Top quality save in the first half stopped BNU going two ahead. A

Enjoyable game to watch. Panhead on Tap made it all the better!

I thought that the score flattered BNU to be honest.

Fong brothers both away for UH.  Then Dawson limped off mid way through first half. Before that UH got caught dreadfully sqaure at the back and a lobbed though ball saw BNU with a one one one that the striker converted beautifully lobbing over the advancing keeper.

Not long after that Cushla made a fantastic save from a 20 yard drive going into the corner to keep it at one.  Could have been different if that had gone in from a confidence point of view for both teams.

UH were having the higher percentage of possession. They dominated the rest of the first half.  Richard McLay missed three clear chances, two of which were one on on with the keeper. UH should have been at least level at half time if not in front.

Two goals in the first half of the second half well put away along with more lions share of possession had UH in front.  They then hit the bar with what would have been the goal of the day with about 15 to go.

BNU came back into it a fair bit in the last 10 or so as UH sat back to defend.  But apart from a coupled of scrambled clearances, did not look like scoring.

BNU spent a lot of the game losing focus arguing with the ref.  No doubt they will claim referee incompetence as evidenced by four of them getting yellows for dissent.  Ref was not great but nothing like as bad as BNU were obviously claiming.

Interesting exercise for UH.  Relegated for this season to CAP1 playong a team from the CAP PREM (albeit mid to bottom of table) and beating them reasonably comfortably.  Well top of the CAP1 table and now this, gives them a sort of measure of where they are at.
