How many are Wests bringing to the final?

Looking forward to both games tomorrow. Will be interested to read the programme to see if NZ's Football appalling lack of knowledge of history is carried through from their website. Wests have actually won the Cup three times not two as NZF seems to think - they are ignoring the win in 1935 as Hospital (previous name). Might be a bit of an anorak but I think that's really poor on their part and shows what little knowledge of our game NZF staffers have ?

Different name only, or different entity (as it was registered)... perhaps ignorance or unusually clever??

Looking forward to the game and watching some good young talent... what are the chances Rudan is there watching?

Just listening to the half time talk Sarah Gregorius is a natural for this, future career perhaps? she talks alot better than other goons we have put up with such as Devlin, Fred etc

Ngata's intro was that Birko had their noses in front 1-0!

Yeah, I had the same thought. There's a degree of natural talent that she has that is not common among former sport stars. She definitely has a future in broadcasting if she wants one. Hopefully they get her involved for the Nix games too.

Footage was typical NZ football coverage, i.e. shark. Halftime highlights, not a mention of one of the best penalty saves you are ever likely to see but three replays of Burfoot blasting 30 metres over the crossbar. WT the actual F?!

I thought Wests were the better team today.

Just had some nice touches, but also lost the ball alot. I was actually really impressed by their 14 the one that missing the all important penalty. Looked very solid. Name, age??

I also liked Awad up top. some lovely touches with a good work rate.

If that’s two of the best club sides currently in NZ football, the future is going to be bleak. Aside a few decent individuals that was a pretty poor standard of football for a cup final.

Hailemariam missed the penalty, been with TeeDubs for a number of years now.

God it was cold at NHS. Reasonably absorbing game but not high quality. Hirsts penalty save in the first half was exceptional , probably the key point in the game.. Neither side appeared to want to win at one stage. Was amazed by Wests bizarre tactics at attacking corners of having 4 back(including all the tall timber) marking fresh air. The same tactic at an 89th minute attacking free kick. Obviously some logic there but it escapes me. Big ups to Birko for dismantling the winnining team from 2 years ago and building another one. Crowd announced was 3364 - not bad. It was so cold !

yep that's it - football is needlessly trolling the other fans after you have won rather than just enjoying your win.  FYI I was supporting Birko today, despite you.

Agree with all that. Dominic Wooldridge is the #14 who missed the last penalty. Hailemariam earned and took the penalty in H1 that was saved.

MoM for me was BH CB Alec Solomons. Strong, fast, decent skills, nobody got past him, and won everything in the air.

Is Luke Jorgensen Carl's son? Despite losing the ball for the goal thought he had a great game. Amazing penalty save in the first half from the keeper. Birkos game plan worked really well as Wests  couldn't seem to deal with the constant hassling. And Declan is lots of fun to watch on the sideline!

Yes, Luke is his son and I thought he was excellent today. Matched the acclaimed West's players well

Wests looked a shadow of their Onehunga-destroying-selves. Missing those players that went overseas.

Infuriating that after being at the game, I won't be able to catch a 5 minute highlights package on Youtube or something.

They were not as good as I expected I must be honest. Very Auckland City like but without the punch up front. You could even say 'robotic' in that all their moves have been rehearsed over and over again. The Birkenhead coaches knew exactly how Declan would set the team up to play and they were right.

Just for the record Birkenhead also lost 5 regular first team starters and 3 squad players during the season as well.

Agree about You Tube Tho. Its ridiculous that in the technological day and age you cant get a simple video of a game!

That is a hilariously large overestimation. I don't think you'd even be getting near that if your kid was there from ages 8-18.
