This SUCKS honestly, win the world cup bid, get granted money from the government towards the women's game and 1 round is all we can do!!!!! However mens still get the second round?

More games than the USA equivalent this year.  Also what you can realistically fit in given that NPWL finishes on 27/9, and therefore starting after Labour weekend and finish before Christmas. (although I would've squeezed in an extra weekend by doubling up on some away fixtures Fri-Sun, and thus allowing a 1v4, 2v3 semi)

Sneak preview of a Stuff article for next week, but from Dan Farrrow, the general manager of football at NZ Football, referring to feedback from a player summit either last year or the year before (confirming what I already understood to be the case): "We got a very clear indication from the playing group, that there was a desire to not run over Christmas and provide a recovery period for the players between the end of the national women's national league and the start of the community football season".

Very much applies here. Going past December 19/20 for the sake of not having a reduced season would cause more problems than it solves, especially with NZ Football's delivery and sustainability project underway and potentially shaking things up in 2021.

yeah was thinking that there might not be player appetite, especially given CapF for example have been training over (late) winter (as well as club commitments).
