Some teams are going to be struggling for numbers this weekend by the look of it, with largely a full round of Cap Footy games still to play...

Yep, I know the team I'm playing for is missing 5 or 6. Unfortunate that they couldn't postpone the tournament by a week.

Thats what I was thinking, but I saw their team last week and only a couple looked like they could of been involved in that. Although isn't their a Marist tournie on around this time of year?

The opening Cup and Plate rounds played at the Upper Hutt Ethnic Tournament produced an unpredictable round of winners and results. Shock of the day in the Cup round was the size of the 7-1 win by Wellington International All Stars over Wellington Fiji. Eastbourne or Europe XI knocked out the rest of the Fijians winning 2-1 against Fiji Sangham. Oromo had a big 10-1 win over Assyria. UK Kiwi beat neighbours Cambodia 3-1 in the final Cup game.

Plate upset of the day was Street Soccer having their first win over Burma by 5 -3. Zimbabwe couldn't make it today letting South Sudan win without kicking a ball and Vatican City beat Rangers Myanmar 5-1. Previous Champs Somalia had a comfortable win over Red Sea 4-1.

I wouldn't call it a shock result being that the side is basically a Central League Selection side. Bit of a mockery of the competition, I realise all teams have fill-ins but at least most ethnic teams try to keep their team mainly to their ethnicity.

I'm not sure what you mean by a mockery? There is no way of policing who plays and who doesn't, same as every Saturday. It's just that some people are recognised and others aren't. The tournament is a multi ethnic tournament but whats that supposed to mean. There is no criteria as long as you got some ethnicity I suppose.
