With Roslyn players taking out the past 4 years POY award without their team winning a single trophy do you think that the same will happen again - Or will it go to someone who is more deserving than the rest.... the infamous MR. SOCCER?

Dunbar ftw

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

The rationale from my understanding for being named Otago POY has always been more than what you achieved purely on the field. i.e what you do for the game and profile of it as a player before and after your 90 minutes on a Saturday.

Unless this changes, Mr Soccer = no chance

That said, he has put on some outstanding lip sync performances during his time down south.

Yeh that could be right..... however how did sean brand get it this season being a swearing, smoking drinking scotsman?

why is Lance "chopper" Woods from green island not an option???

Brilliant - now I understand why Brand got the award - it's not just that he is a great player but because of his all round contribution to the game....The fact of the matter is how can Roslyn get any POTY awards when they never win anything?

so.... how can tech get any poty if they havent won anything in the past ten years????

Beats me mate - from the looks of it they haven't. They did however compete in the National league which is a bit different from the SPL.

Stop turning threads into your personal rants against Dunedin Tech horseshead. We get the picture - you don't have much good to say about them but if you haven't noticed, this thread is about Cambell "Mr Soccer" Parkin.

If Mr Parkin isn't POY this year, who else is going to turn the SPL on it's head with some strong  performances during the season?

As a neutral fan of Otago football.... I would have to say that I have been floating around all of the teams pre season trainings and from what i saw last night at Tahuna "Parkin" Park he was easily the best player there.  He is a big time player and looks to be in top shape.

All the best Mr. Soccer for the season and hopefully those who give out POY awards will give you what you deserve.

Also now confirned that tarrant has signed for varsity.

Feedback, i must agree with you on the Mr Soccer comments
What a player he is going to be this season, looks in peak fitness and at the top of his game
a shadow of his former self
Can you please keep me updated on the Mr Soccer situation, will need some insider tips if any team is going to stop this guy in the upcoming SPL

Question. Will Mr Soccer be wearing the captain's armband in the absence of John Chisom?

Cambell "Mr Soccer" Parkin will obviously take the captain arm band.  I have no doubt in my mind  -  He is the best player in the league so he will definitly have to arm band
