Whole string of grades off for seniors now. I cant see the rest surviving either.

Why 14 is still on when 11, 12 and 13 are off is beyond me.

It will be related to ground use.

Councils will have said 1 game per pitch or closed some grounds and the divisions canned free up the grounds required.

If it keeps coming down like it has been this evening I suspect more will go.

it seems to be turning into  a pretty disappointing season for the kids (and those of us parents who actually get excited about our kids games)

edit - not a dig at the parents, just frustrated at two cancellations in a row after no game in the mid week of the hols!!

not sure if that's a response to my post Pitbull, and if so fair enough cancel the games for the younger kids but i'd have thought that  an 11 or 12 year old could  put a polyprop under their shirt and a coach can figure out if soemone is too cold and bring them off  and make sure they're wrapped up on the sideline

I suppose it's just frustrating for our lad to realise that the adults miss one game out of two and he's missing two out of two - oh well we might just pop down and watch the first team to get our football fix

I'm with you...I'm fed up with cancellations and its so early in the season...yes I always make my kids put a  polyprop on and take a range of clothing for them just incase..as we  have 2 kids playing you never know what the weathers gonna be like for game 2.

This is going to be a continuing problem this season.  If councils say 1 game per ground only, who do Capital Football choose - Adults in the afternoon, or kids in the morning?  Steve & co are damned whichever way they go.

This will be exacerbated with lower grade juniors playing across senior pitches.  Although the juniors don't damage the grounds that much, their parents on the sidelines, which happens to be right in the middle of the adult pitch traipsing up and down in a narrow zone, make a real impact.  We witnessed it last year with the Stop Out Wynton Rufer small pitches at the Raceway.  playing surfaces little damage - sidelines turned to bogs.

parents in gumboots are a problem. Best bet is to rope of the pitch so only the kids can get on there - and the parents can be on the periphery

The Rufer tournament the year before was worse than the KP Aquadrome...  I can remember a late Sunday arvo match where the ball was actually floating away from a pack of drowned rat 7-year olds.

You are so right.  Not one of my better decisions to proceed (in hindsight) but at 5.30 a.m. when we made the call, we thought we were doing the right thing.

However, that year gave me one of my most pleasurable sights at a Wynton Rufer tournament.  The 7 yo who had scored his first goal ever after nearly two seasons of playing...His goal celebration was diving headfirst at the ground and sliding along the biggest puddle on the pitch, and there were some big puddles that year.

Mum who was right in front of him was horrified, but he was made up.  The smile as he stood up reminded me of why we really get into junior football.  Forget the regional leagues and reps.  This was priceless!

BTW, just read my emails and CF are playing JPL/Promo games on Queens Birthday Monday, to try and get the season going.
