Any comments on the game? Or other games for that matter? Personally I think Wests are gonna be pretty tough to beat this year. Will be interesting to see if Island Bay can stop them this weekend.

Slim pickings ae Chopper? You at Endeavour tomorrow?

Yeah slim pickings alright. This whole thread has gone pretty quiet. Is it wrong to wish for something controversial to happen on the weekend. Missing the banter. Would be happy to take the day off tomorrow looking at the forecast!

I saw a bit of the 1st half and most of the 2nd half...Wests just too good for the poor Uni team. It looked like the two teams shouldn't be playing in the same league...And probably won't next year.

Stop Out on the hunt for players (including GK) I see. Preparing to support a Central League team?

Wests 4-0 over IBU at HT

IBU with real player number problems this week. GK injured at training on Thursday making things even worse so young outfielder in goal. Unfortunate inconsistencies as per usual with a third team culminating in 8 nil loss to a quality Wests team.

Interesting. Have they been in contact with you? What sort of incentives are they offering?

Nah just saw on Cap Football site.

Could be a tough ask attracting quality players at this time of year. Especially to (no offence) Cap 2. Did the club not do much recruiting in the off season?

If you don't ask you don't get.....

From what i have been told down the club there more concerned about a goal keeper but while there at it they are trying their luck with getting a few extra players. Doesn't hurt to give it a crack

For sure, a good keeper can make all the difference sometimes.

Great result for Tawa today in the 2nd vs 3rd match. Anyone see the game?

Villa will be rapt to put a few goals away today too.

We were stoked to finally get our mojo flowing, hopefully we can carry it on for next week against wests which will be a big ask but the lads are looking forward to the trip, credit has to go to vic uni's keeper who stepped up in the second half saving half a dozen 1 on 1's but overall we felt like we played the best footy we have all season and played vic uni off the park

Round 17 has been moved forward so you get to play them again next week!

Some of the goals in the Olympic v Upper Hutt game were top class.

Stink buzz

Western Suburbs 6 FINAL 1 Douglas Villa

We were pretty happy at 1 nil up after 25 and then they got a screamer free kick in the net after a missed penalty, we were claiming a small moral victory towards the end of the first half when wests started playing the long ball game which there coach was clearly not happy with, going into H/T 2-1 down we were stoked, unfortunately in our opinion the ref had a shocker and the melt down began, another 2 or 3 penalty's awarded and slotted home, felt robbed when we scored to find we were offside..........apparently, but hey thats footy, was an epic game and we are really looking forward to the return game at home, talented group of young players

One of the highlights of the game was when the Ref got a Falcon, he was walking back to halfway after a goal was scored writing in his book and the  Goalkeeper punted the ball towards halfway and got the Ref on the head, Classic, might of been what some of his poor decisions. Wests played some really good football.

Wests put 11 past rapa. Puts them 8 clear with a game in hand. Not sure how they ended up in this league.

Didn't see but heard there was full allowance of regrades for Olympic. Kenny, Seripisos plus more apparently.

Interesting round ahead with the top four all playing each other. Could have an impact on the minor placings.

He spent most of the game ON the pitch yelling at his players, late in the second half something went down and the game was stopped for a few mins while the ref and coach had a bit of a discussion/argument which he was clearly not happy with then after the game he told the players that was it and he took straight off, talking to united players after the game and they aren't exactly happy with his coaching style either and in the last 4 weeks they haven't even been doing footy training, instead they have been doing things like wheel barrow races ect........ may explain some recent form, only time will tell if he has stood down as coach or maybe he just needed time to chillout and reset

I see Olympic have defaulted to Wests. Scared of a hiding? Not wanting to give Wests a better goal diff? Or nothing that sinister?

Surely it will help Olympics goal diff and disadvantage Wests, its a good tactical move but as a player i would hope that we would never run and hide instead of playing, if you have that attitude to start with your not going to do well, football is a funny game and anything can happen on the day

Don't think Wests need to worry about their goal difference.

Would be pretty sad for Olympic if this is a 'tactical' move, definitley not in the spirit of the game nor is it a great example for the young fellas at their club. Can't see Olympic admitting to it either way and it's hard to say without knowing the full story, sounds like there have been a few things going on at that club over the last couple of weeks.

It ain't nothing sinister. It is just the product of the club not giving us the players to field 11.

Douglas villa with a hard fought win over Lower Hutt 3-2 pretty scrappy game but that's typical between the 2 clubs awesome 3 points 4 us

There were some injuries and suspensions at the club and we have obviously had some players move on in the last month which has depleted the depth a bit. The 1st and 2nds had 3 players each on the bench which is pretty standard. Unfortunately there weren't enough players to go around and therefore this has happened. We are not a club that is going to default a game to save ourselves from a hiding or try and be tactical or underhanded. The club isn't happy about this and we obviously have to look at what we are going to do with the 3rd team from now on. We don't have as many players as what people think.
