Big thanks to Villa from Naenae!!

Well done to Naenae, a very hospitable club. Its always enjoyable to go back to their clubrooms after match to enjoy a beer and good company.

Yeah congratulations to Naenae, deserved win on Saturday!  Good luck in Cap 1 next year.

Slightly disappointing end for us but didn't think we would get anywhere near the top half of the table after the first game of the season never mind top 2.  Shame we can't go up but happy to give Cap 2 another crack next year and try go one better and win the league.

Enjoy the off season!

Well done to all. Naenae certainly seemed to sneak through the pack with a run late in the season. Stokes Valley Wharfies ,and University a notch above the rest. Surprised Wainui did not finish higher tbh.

A bloody tough year for us at Upper Hutt.  I had a count up over the weekend and we have used 38 different players this year in Cap 2 and in general finished the season stronger in the second half (not really a difficult task tbh).  A couple of older experienced heads would have made a world of difference but was not to be. Of the 13 players used on Saturday, we had 11 were either still at school or in their first year out of school.

The off season will definitely be enjoyed!

I bailed out before it really got messy.  Good call I suspect.

Add stop out to the disappointment of the season.... Not even paying the big $$$ (coach and players) could get their second team closer to their first team

Paying the big $$? From what I heard (I'm not at the club) they were all about promoting youth and actually playing football. Sometimes that's not the most effective strategy for promotion.

For what it's worth, I thought when we ( Nae ) played Stop Out they were two of our hardest games and they played some really quality football. Being the second team of any club is always going to be difficult for consistency.

Yeah I agree, Stop Out were one of the better teams we played and the only team we never managed a win against this season. (Two draws)

On a selfish note they are the only team I never scored against, so close to a full house! Dammit!

They were the only team we beat!

Watched the SV v Seatoun game today best game I saw all season, football was reasonably good standard, intensity was great, SV pretty dominate throughout 97 minutes, SV had player sent for 2 yellows both miss timed sliding tackles in the 20 minute, and still took game to Seatoun 0-0 halftime, second half tackles continued going in, eventually SV scored then Seatoun keeper brings down SV player pen slotted with ease 2 nil Seatoun score straight away suspect player offside still 2-1 I think by this stage Seatoun also down to 10 after 97 minutes referee blows fulltime, I think Seatuon receive third red after final whistle. had previously lost GK in 90min for second yellow. Game ended 2-1 to SV 3 or 4 Red cards and a total of 10 yellows I think, in stating that I think referee Peter McDonald had a great game.

Yeah great game by Peter. Seatouns problems start with there  coach and  end with  him. Number 7 somehow  surrive  to the 90 minute before abusing AR I believe.  Well done Stokes  Valley!!

I've heard the Old guys who have been promoted every year are unsure if they want to play cap 2. Will mean no Wests third team if they say no.

New season coming up pretty fast all of a sudden.

Has anyone had many preseason games?  We (Karori Cougars) had a game vs Island Bay thirds on Saturday at Wakefield.

Was a decent game I thought.  Finished 3-2.  Both teams keen to get the ball down and play it around and some nice football was getting played.  It was pretty warm though and both teams started to tire with 20mins to go.  Led to a bit of tired defending but even more tired finishing!

Skilful wee guy in the middle of the park went off injured after an accidental clash so hope he is ok cos he was looking very good and creating a lot of IBs chances.

We have lost quite a few players from last season but reckon we have recruited pretty well.

Do have a new coach though (Feverish) so going to be an interesting (long) season....

Some interesting results after round 1 - 6 goals from the Gossies is a pretty impressive start. We (Wellington United) were pleased to come away with 3 points against Lower Hutt. They had the best of the first half and we had to fight to get back into the game. Played in pretty good spirits - looking forward to round 2!

Yeah pretty interesting first week in Cap2.  All fairly close results apart from the Uni game so could be a pretty tight league.

We were happy to get off to a winning start vs Douglas Villa.  Was a very hot day over the hill so glad we done enough first half to give us something to hold on.  Thought Villa were a far better team than when we played them last year so I reckon they will go well.

Thanks for the food after the game, made the bus journey back a bit more of a sober one....

Seatoun at home for us this week, gonna be tough after them getting off to a winning start.

Our winning start to the season continued last Saturday, but it was certainly an extremely tough battle against the Karori boys.

Two pieces of magic from one of our lads gave us a 2-0 HT lead, which in the end proved enough. Karori hit the bar twice, and also had a couple of shots cleared off the line. Karori pulled one back with about 20 to go, but we managed to hang on for a 2-1 win.

Wainuiomata tomorrow. Looking forward to the game, as I'm sure they are also after picking up a draw last week.

Heard some talk that Seatoun are very keen to get back to the top level.

I can't even picture a club of Seatouns size making it Central League. They don't have enough teams across the club to support the development of young players that would be needed to create the depth.

they would need a whole new squad along with the coach

New season approaching fast now!  Anyone any idea who is going to be in Cap 2 this season?  All got a bit confusing at the end of last year!

Any preseason games lined up?  We (Cougars) are playing KCU next Saturday, cant wait!

Pretty tough looking league this year then!

We had a preseason game v KCU on Saturday.  Lost 3-1 but was good to get a run out and try a few players in different positions and a wee change of formation.  They were all very comfortable on the ball so was a good fitness session chasing them around!

A bit to improve on before the season starts but good signs for a month out.

Take it the draw wont go up till a week or so before the season starts?

From Cap Football's Facebook:

"We have received a few queries about the draws for upcoming games for both senior and juniors. Due to a few late team changes we held off putting up subsequent rounds until this week. We are currently working on these for all divisions and will have them posted by end of business tomorrow. Thanks for your patience."
