Cap 6

The mighty Mooseknuckles are back and aiming for a solid 3rd place finish this year.  Any others on here?

I have it on good authority that Marist Inter are playing in the Sunday league instead of this one (yet the draw would indicate otherwise).  Could be a boring game for the Tawa Bears in week 1.

NW Marrons here - new to the team and to cap 6 so can't really comment much on either!

Did you play in the friendly on sunday morn at Raroa NZP? Against NW cap 7.....?

Nope, I wasn't available for that game. Played an Island Bay tam (cap 7 or 8?) in a friendly two weeks ago at Wakefield though.

Who do you play for? Really don't know much about the league, so I am very curious about it all.

Will we ever get referees you think?

pretty unlikely if last year is anything to go by.  maybe 2 or 3 of our games had referees from memory.

Yeah came out of retirement this season to play for NW 7. The boys said they had refs a couple of times randomly last season, but it was generally just the home team reffing.

...and when we do get a ref it'll be the one that blows for HT after 35 mins

Referees are only normally assigned down to Capital 5. With the number of referees down on last year unfortunately it is even less likely you will see one this year.

You trying to do a season at each club mate? :)

AH!!! That's rich coming from someone who is probably playing in the UK right now :))

Nah, that's my 3rd club in 10 seasons, not too bad I'd say. Tried to join the mighty Stallions but the ranks were full so a much awaited return to Varsity did not eventuate!

Besides, when you are no longer playing competitively, I guess it doesn't really matter who you play for I think. When I was still playing for the 1st team/Gossies I never would have donned another shirt. Now I just want to kick a ball on the weekend.

But at least we get rolling subs :P

I'd rather have that than a ref any day ha ha

You should still get rolling subs even if you have a referee for your games. They should know how unfit you are :P

IBU 2 - 1 NW Marrons

Pretty good game on the turf at Wellington High. Fair result as well as IBU had most of the possession and were very good at moving the ball around. Not too many chances in the game, although we did miss an open goal with the score on 0-0 just before the end of the first half.

We mainly played counter attack football (e.g. ball to the full backs and hoof it in the corner), which sometimes worked quite well, although I would have rather we tried to play the ball on the ground more often.

Anyway, it was good being back out there kicking a ball.

Looking for a team to share ST Pats turf with on Monday nights. Would get half a field with lights etc.

Not quite true - there are more ref's than appointments most weeks!

we got one on Saturday for some reason.  Always happy to get an assigned ref.  Given there was only one for each of div 5 and 6 I feel its unlikely to continue.  Seesaw 4 all draw between us and Petone - the new Fraser park turf is built for goals!

Any Uni Raiders players on here or anyone that's played them this season?

From what I recall, they play in a black strip as opposed to the usual Uni green/gold. Is this the case?

We have them on Saturday and wondering if we need to worry about a change strip.

You are correct. We (NW Marrons) lost to them 3-2 two weeks ago and they had a black (or very dark blue) strip if I remember correctly.

Yeah, as there is no games for Central or Premier due to Chatham Cup. Referees have been given all sorts of games this weekend
