Still a couple of players to come in for them. Not an easy league, I'm confident they will go alright!

Haha love that confidence Kakky! Wouldn't read too much into our Hilton results. A lot of new players including myself and we have had a nightmare list of injuries. First game is against Wellington United, haven't heard much out of their camp.

Haha, a lot of people wrote season off last year. 5 games bottom of the table... still ended up getting promoted. Not going to be an easy season but full strength on paper looks good :)

predicting Stop out and Waterside will be the runaways again

SO v Mar - draw

Wharf v IB  - Wharf (have to really)

Utd v Seatoun - Utd

Bubbles v Petone - Bubbs

I see IB going hard based on Wellingtonian article about the four Argies they have shipped over. Don't mention the  Faulklands.

Couple of argies is least to worry about Greenie. Great IBU core this year!

Finished 2-2 at Karori Park. Conor Ramsey with a 30 yard peach for wharfies. 2 goals on debut.

Nicest day for footy in years (no wind, bright sun, newly mown pitch). WK were without most of last year's veterans eg Jock S, Hill, Johnson, Gordon, Nathu, Poly, Batty. Instead while IB had three or four Argentine gents, WK had a similar number of McFarlanes plus some enthusiastic young guys. Very even game. WK denied a winner but the flag did go up before the header. Paul M (aged 78 and in in his 783rd game for IB) scored a goal. He is truly amazing. Was playing Premier before most of his teammates were born. Mohammed and Sir Ian exchanged their usual pleasantries on the sideline.

Officials were actually ver good, mohamed was very good. Its not often one praises the referees but today they were excellent, barr ruling out that header for offside, was well on

Don't fall over yourself trying to get island bay back to your clubbies - they aren't allowed to drink after the game!

Titanic 3-0 over Seatoun. Seatoun down to 10 after 30 mins,  right back thought he was the keeper and tipped a shot over the bar.  Was going in.  1-0 ht.   Oranje had majority of possession and should have really done more against 10.  Still, will take the points and happy to see Wharf and Argentina share the spoils.  Island Bay next week, will be a cracker.

Haha it's alright Greenie, the reserves put their fair share across the bar after they were robbed any points.

Whats happened to all those experienced players that Wharf had last year? someone listed them earlier. Were they out with injury or gone?

Olympic rezzies were fielding some pretty handy looking teams in the Hilton, they will get some good results this season if they can keep that sort of team out on the field.

The Seatoun lad produced one of the saves of the season, was an unlucky reflex save really, would have happened to most being face high.
Seatoun looked good in the first half, again Welly Utd should have done better with the number advantage.

looks like its going to be a cracker of a season!

Stop Out / Miramar was OK.

Talking point. Miramar's keeper handling outside the area. Last man back and denying a goal scoring chance. Ball was going over his head at the time.  Ref didn't see it and allowed play to continue. Finally, after a lot of shouting and pointing the ref went to consult the assistant...   Then gave Stop Out a free kick where the ball was handled and....     that was it...  Hmm...

Fizz Aden scored a great goal... he just didn't want to give up. Tenacity rewarded.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Wharf beat Stop Out 2-1 at Karori Park. Wharf had the best of the first hour and led 2-0 (Ford, Ramsay) but Stop Out pushed hard in the last 30 minutes and got one back. Two great saves by Wharf keeper Spargo.

Wharf beat BNU 2-1 in Masters. Goals to Abes and Feverish.

Vic Uni beat Olympic 2-0 at Kelburn Park.

Vic did most of the attacking in the first half, but it was scoreless until about 5 mins after the restart.  Penalty to Matt Wilson then Matt Rowe with a second towards the end.

Once again cricket pitch took its toll and a couple of times the subs had to brave the leagies on the next field, or the croquet players over the fence, to get the ball back.

No one died. Muzza marked the Fever for most of the game with no fatalities no yellows. Interesting kerfuffle when the ref awarded a back pass free kick one metre from the BNU goal. Wharf took it quickly, Jeff saved initially whereupon there followed pinball, pushing, shoving and total chaos before it was cleared.  Wharf demanded a pen but didn't get it.

Taken at the 6 yard box?

Permalink Permalink

Nope. Taken 1 metre from the goal. Which was wrong in law. " See below.

  • an indirect free kick awarded inside the goal area must be taken on the goal area line parallel to the goal line at the point nearest to where the infringement occurred
