What a game, both teams end with 9 players. Very average control from a ref that i thought would be better. Both sides actions were terrible

Im sure you will hear about it. All i will say at this stage is It was entertaining for all the wrong reasons. it will be interesting to see how many weeks the red carded players get. i suspect we will see a fairly substantial suspension for one of them.

Fraser is getting a massive upgrade over the next few years. Artificials, 2 ithink? and also 2? sand based pitches, with clubrooms in the middle of it all so you can sip on your latte and watch all the action. will be the best sports ground in wgtn (in my opinion) I think if you look up sportsville there is a plan.

Talked to one of the ball boys parents from this game.He was shocked by the behaviour of stop out player and what the ball boys viewed as football behaviour at at a high level. Even after being sent for behaviour on field (which im told involved in punches and a kick in the head for the opposition) the player then went over and threatened to kill all the opposition players and supporters when is own coach had to forcefully remove him. Not a great environment for them to feel safe in and to view their supposed role models!
Sounds like Joe gaughan was at the centre of the brawl.
Be interesting to see what happens. Probably a slap on the wrist. Im sure Canton will have a say!
I heard that the game next to it stopped for five minutes to watch the action.
Surely he must be in the action a bit? I've only seen him a few times and one time it kicked off after the game after he had repeatedly been ball grabbing - and the other time he ran on the pitch to get involved even though he was sidelined with injury and wasn't playing (Hilton Petone).
Threw a couple of punches after being on the reciving end of a bad tackle.

there's a line (even I will admit) and deliberate assault crosses it. Bad tackles happen that's the nature of the game, fair enough to get up and blow up at the player verbally (lets be honest most of us would if someone has just tried to snap our leg). But striking a player can't and shouldn't be justified.
I was told by someone present that Alec McDonald Senior lined Joe up from behind as Joe was receiving the ball and inflicted a vicious and deliberate kick into the lower back region. Alec was looking for a reaction and got it. Evidently Alec got off scott free when the dust settled.
If the stop out lad didn't choose to flog him he probably would have been sent by the sounds of that.

What matters at the end of the day will be the referees report which as we all know according to CF is law. If there's any ounce of consistency Gaughan should get a hefty ban. No excuses for striking a player.

yea I would have been suprised if Mcdonald senior would have taken a step back. This was all a matter of time in the making, the games I've seen gaughan play he has been class with regards to football. But the niggle/ the abuse/ the grabbing players testicles was only going to last so long. I'm suprised the opposite hasn't happened and someone hasn't laid him out at some stage for the above antics.
I got my money's worth tonight. Turn up at half time and Wharf are 3 nil down to bubbles. End up 5-4 wharf. Caleb McF with a couple of crackers
