Round 1 Results:  30 March 2019 (from Capital Football)

Upper Hutt  def. Wainuiomata   4 - 1

Petone       def. Miramar            4 - 2

Wests        def. Tawa                2 - 0

Island Bay  def. Olympic           3 - 1

KCU   and   Vic. Uni   drew       1 - 1

Scores a bit closer than some of those lop-sided results today in the Central League (10 - 0 and 8 - 0)

 - Whilst I hadn't seen them pre-season. based on the chatter going around I wasn't expecting that Wanui result. They've got Petone next week which may help get an indication of wether it was just a one off bad day or where they are really at in comparison to the other tipped contenders.

 - Olympic & Miramar  as expected & may struggle not to be in bottom 4, but will always be strengthend later in the season when required by the ability to have first teamers dropping down to help. If it transpire Petone are going for the title I'm sure they'd like it sewn up before facing Olympic on the last day.

 - KCU & Vic Uni as expected & may make up the bottom 4 with Oly/Mar.

 - Had Tawa down as a win v Wests but expect these 2 to be in the middle positions at end of season

 - Petone play some good football & I have them as favourites for the league. From what I've seen they create a lot of chances. A concern may be the conversion rate into goals isnt as high as it needs to be which can be costly in those tight games where things aren't going all your way.
