Word is that after round 9 all the points get cleared and it goes back to zero. Bottom two teams from Capital 11 go down and the top two teams from Capital 12 go up. No teams from Capital 11 to go up at this stage. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not?

Yeah that's right. It's to allow fast tracking of teams up grades feom lower down. But as Cap 10 is full 2 rounds they can't drop from or promote any teams to that grade. Was the same last year

Thanks Energy. Makes perfect sense and wasn't complaining as it has been excellent for us as we managed to go up 2 grades last season.

Western Suburbs should be kicked out for not having a cool nickname.

My favourites are Wainuiomata HalfBaked, Island Bay United Piglets, Olympic Motorboaters, Stop Out Werewolves, Victoria......who am I kidding - I love you all (except Western Suburbs).

I asked a guy from the piglets why they were called that and he said because when they started the team most of them were cops. Not sure if he was taking the piss or if thats true. They all wear pink and black uniform which was interesting.

Really tough game for us on Saturday against Olympic. They showed us why they are equal at the top of the table. Think a Draw was a fair result at the end. Some really good football played by both teams. Only Disappointing thing was seeing two of there guys not wearing shinpads for the whole game and their ref refusing to do anything about  it after being asked twice by us. Thought they were compulsory in all grades. Looks like the first round is going to come down to goal difference. Cant wait for the rematch in round 2.

Wow. A Cap 11 thread, I suppose it’s time I post in here then.

What a strange grade this is (I play for the Pirates).
A top 2 well above everyone, then the next 2 trying to pull away (yes I see the table above, but us Pirates have played the top 2. And just couldn’t score on the weekend vs. UniBrow 0 - 0), then a bottom 6 fighting to avoid relegation (points and GD).

After 9 games the bottom 2 from capital 11 get relegation to 12 and the top two come up from 12. Should mix things up  nicely.

I know that.

I just hope that Capital Football have a trophy or something to give to the winner of this first round, otherwise you gain nothing from finishing first (other than the glory of finishing first).

Yeah IMO i doubt they will award a trophy for the first round but some kind of recognition would be nice i guess. Would be great to see them raise the bar a little on this promotion relegation cut off round. Maybe from Capital 11 up to 8 or 9.

Hey Lethal any reason you say 8 or 9? Theoretically it could change. Currently there are three effective tiers of Senior Men's football. Prem-5, 6-10 and 11-bottom. No reason why that couldn't change if there was justification.

You raise a good point energy...

I guess where i am coming from is that i feel there is not much difference between Capital 8 and Capital 14. I have watched games (obviously not all) in Capital 8 through to 14 over the last 3 years and don't see a large difference between them. Also we have a Capital 9 side at our club which we have played several times over the last 3 years. We won on each occasion. If i was to compare other teams in our grade to them i would say 3 or 4 of them in our current grade (Capital 11) would beat them. If we were to raise the bar to say Capital 8 or 9 i think it would get rid of the teams who don't belong in those grades to the grade which better suits them faster. Also it would get the teams who are starting down in Capital 14 or 15 as a new team promoted to the grade where they belong faster.

First round nearly over with only one game left. Looks like Olympic will get bragging rights for the first round after we drew with Wests on Saturday with us only having 8 men!!! Piglets are a good side and could upset Olympic this Saturday but will be a tough game.  All points getting wiped clean after Saturday. Two new teams coming up looking like Marist and Mirimar from Capital 12.
