good game against  Karori Irish.  Finished 3-0 to PC, but could of been a different game if the Irish had scored there penalty at 0-0.  PC up 2-0 at half time.  End to end stuff in the second half with Karori's keeper playing out of his skin.
Karori are a good team to play.  there ref in the first half was really fair, awarding 3 penalties, 2 to PC and 1 to his own team.  well played ref, 10 out of 10 from me

Big game this week PC out for revenge (3 loses in 2009) against LH ballkickers. Looks like both have made good start to season. I hope to be at match will stagger off the plane and see what the legs are like.

Yes!
One of our lads (former Seatoun) reacted to a couple of tackles from behind! feelings running high as youd expect for top of the table clash. Seatoun certainly had the legs on PC for 1st half, PC came back into it in 2nd. poor defensive work allowed all 3 seatoun goals (something to work on in return match).

Just a question then. The free kick goal that you scored (Porirua) scored (the 2nd goal), what was the refs call on that one? Was it deemed as deliberate hand ball or not?
Permalink Permalink
almost 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
it had to be deliberate, otherwise it wouldn't of been a free kick

So it was a handball. Cheers for that.

I will say one thing (and don't take it as a swipe at you Porirua guys, cause all teams in this grade are the same, Seatoun included). Why is it that none of the people (players) who ref the games, never seem to use the direct (arm pointed in direction of attacking team awarded the kick, kept out until kick is taken) and indirect arm signal (arm raised high/straight up to sky, held there until ball has touched some other player).

That is why I asked about the handball free kick.

maybe it's because most people in our grade and probably most of the other's, are not qualified ref's.

no offence taken by the way, it was a very good game.  Cant wait for the game at your place.

Maybe you should ref that game, you might not get as much abuse as our's got

I don't think my team would allow me to ref. partly because I told a few of them to shut up or get off during a game last year, but mainly cause I am the only keeper.

Captains armband?
If so, You should get an oscar after the way you went down after a bit of a push.
I deserve nothing for missing the best chance we had.

Alright game though.
Not my team so im not so disappointed.
Should really have been a tighter game scorewise. Stefan2010-05-15 20:36:52

I thought the ref in the first half was great, very fair and stopped a potential punch up. Very cool, calm under pressure. Shame he wont ref all games. Ha ha

Considering you guys played like ar$e in the first half, I don't think you could afford to have WellArd out for every game.

PC v WK Swifts:
Good match; played in good spirits throughout. WK didn't create to many chances apart from a run of 5 consecutive corners at the end of the 1st half (well defended though). PC struggled early on with players out of position and finding it hard to link up. half time 0-0. WK only ventured in to PC territory occassionally with PC dominating possession and territory. Break through came mid way through second half with a lucky toe poke evading the keeper!!! after he had spilled a save. Second came after a mazy run from halfway and an unselfish cross across the face goal.

cheeky sod.  it was a well placed finish with the inside of the left foot, that only just evaded the keeper.  leave it up to the centre half to open the scoring .

Remeber, you have to be in the right place at the right time.
