Capital 13A/B

Greetings from the equivalent of the Spen Valley and District league of the Capital Football pyramid.  For all the teams in 13A and B the breeding ground for the leagues, or where club-jumping sides go to start their club all over again.

Kicking things off the Uni Goldenrods played Tawa AC United's reserve team at Nairnville.  Close game that Tawa dominated but couldn't score until the 80th minute.  Despite a late onslaught from the Rods, Tawa fully deserved their 1-0 win.  Great bunch of lads to play against who were on average decades younger than us, they're skillful and also honest and play attractive football.

For the Rods a good start seeing 7 players were away. Not for uni hols but because they all now have families.  Thought we'd left the days of scratching for players behind

Roll on North Wellington Avengers next week.

Any other news from the leagues?

Yep great season opener against your lot, was nervous right till the final whistle!

Looking forward to the 'top of the table' clash vs UHC Creeps. Not too sure what to expect from them.

^ some solid dudes and solid tackles would be the answer there. Stoked to come away with a 2-0 win. Think it might have been a different story if it wasn't on turf and we couldn't play our preferred fast passing game.

Any advice for someone wanting to get back into football, and looking for a team to join? I don't want to be anywhere other than Cap 13, as I'm pretty certain that's where my skill set lies. I haven't played for a few years other than 5-a-side (terribly) so would quite like to join a team which has regular trainings (if such a thing exists in the bottom divisions), I need the practice.

Any recommendations on a club to join? And are most of the teams in this divison groups of mates who organise themselves, or are there some 'club' teams too?

Needs to be in Wellington, not the Hutt Valley.

Bump. I'm prettymuch in the same boat as Mac, thinking of lacing up the boots after not playing for about ten years and don't quite know where to start. I can provide good banter, an excellent level of enthusiasm, and minimal football skills. How's that for a sales pitch.

Unlikely to find a Cap13 side that trains regularly

This thread is the only reason I am still on this forum. I looking forward to following the Cap 13 adventures again.

Who is looking strong this season? I am thinking that the Avengers and the Creeps will be the teams to keep an eye on (for different reasons).

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight
