Any fellow fever rivals out there plying their trade in cap 5 this season? Always good to get some cheeky intel going.

Cap 5 tipping comp?
Permalink Permalink
almost 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
wouldnt know where to start, dont know enough about the league. we have our final pre season game tomorrow to feel out our squad, against Naenae.
Permalink Permalink
almost 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
oh good on ya. How'd ya do against Naenae?

Are you the same Brooklyn team that was in cap5 last season?
Permalink Permalink
almost 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Nah Cap 4 - but in saying that its a completely new squad again. Lost 2-1. Both sides guilty of butchering an abundance of chances, even more so us. We just need to be more consistent in our finishing, we put 5 passed our Cap6 side last week, but unlucky this time around.

Which team do you play for?

Sounds like an interesting comp in store this year will be a tight league.

Accies v Naenae game called off with 10 minutes to go as the lights didn't come on at Te Whaea. Think it was 2-2 at the time

Yea the lights only just came on in time at Wakefield. Isn't 60 mins the minimum for a result?
Permalink Permalink
almost 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Was 2-1 to naenae and 60 minutes is the time that is game result stands. So should be A naenae win

Interesting game between Petone - BNU
BNU- young an mostly inexperienced
Petone- look more like a masters team

BNU scored 1st then Petone equalise with a soft penalty
HT 1-1
5mins into 2nd half 2more even softer penalties an a red card for a push
the red card was later recinded to a yellow after the game!!!!
a yellow card was then dished out for a head butt
final score 6-1 to Petone
What a sorry excuse for a Ref, fat slow making offside calls 60m behind the play, lack of understanding of the game or rules, i could go on
I suppose in Cap5 there literally scraping the bottom of the barrel for officials and it shows

Pretty much what i was wanting to post but i didnt want to sound like i was trying to make up excuses for the loss haha. Petone did have some handy players though, but the ref well and truly ruined the affair. There wouldnt be a team in the world who could fight back after conceding 3 pens and a send off. I really hope we dont get him again.

Well that's outrageous. Despite the old 1-10 rating on the team card has anyone had any contact with cap football regarding this? As it would be unfortunate to have that kind of thing ruining peoples' seasons.

There was someone who i understand to be of some authority watching our game, who immediately rescinded the red card after the match, so im sure Cap Footy are aware

Some high scoring games again this week. The Boomers had a strong 6-2 win against uni despite going a goal down early. Big game for us on Friday vs fellow pace setters Stokes Valley.

Im just stoked we had a great referee this time who actually knew the rules and let the game flow nicely both ways. Wasnt too picky on handballs, offsides or good solid challenges. Was a good hard fought game. Im still pretty sore though

We didn't get have a ref at all this week which was unfortunate. Resultantly, a dubious penalty and 10 yards being marched out at least 10 metres on numerous occasions. Hopefully that won't happen too often this season.

You might want to chack with Capital Football, there have been a few games in higher leagues lately that have needed last minute fill ins for sickness etc and unfortunately that means Cap 5 & 6 will miss out at the last minute. Also it does seem to me the pool of refs this year might be a bit smaller than last but the Awww ref forum could be the place to ask these questions. Good luck with your season!

well maybe the fact central league kicked off perhaps had something to do with it too?
Permalink Permalink

Yea all true facts. Would have thought though that with a 7pm game there wouldn't be too many clashes with other games needing refs.

Wgtn Utd 2-2 BNU

No ref for a 6pm kick off on a Friday, strange. Ok game though, we started the stronger side and went into the break 0-1. Hit the snooze button halfway through the 2nd and conceded twice but grabbed an equaliser about 3mins from time. Disappointed coming away without the win as we came close a few times and missed a couple of dead set sitters,  but happy with the late goal.

Karori 0 - Stokes Valley 1

Tough game and pretty even. Credit to Stokes though for playing better some good football. Initially had no ref but then luckily got one at the last minute.

Also pretty annoyed that changing rooms were locked after the game!

Agree Messy - surely if they are prepared to have us playing that late, then they are prepared to at least let us use the facilities afterwards.

Stokes Valley played unusually sensibly. It seems they've dropped some of their brats for some wiser heads. We'll be 'avin ya at Delany!

The lack of refs in Cap 5 this season is quite infortunate, particularly in comparison with last season. It really does cause some tension and there have already been a few unfortunate incidents by the sounds. Really makes you appreciate what a great job refs do do.

Yesterday:

Eastbourne 3 - 3 BNU

A good game played in difficult conditions; intermittant rain, muddy pitch, no official ref.

BNU going ahead in the first 20' thanks to a very nice free kick which went over the wall and left the Eastoburne keeper no chance to move.

After the initial possession, BNU slowed down and Eastbourne came out of their shell, having a good spell with plently of chances and closing the first half 2-1 up. Mention must be made of the 1-1 goal, courtesy of a beautiful BNU centre back diving header into his own net.

Second half started with Eastbourne again the better team - lots of possession and shots on goal. BNU playing mainly counter attack but still very much in the game.

3-1 came from a shot from outside the box, Eastbourne striker getting in front of BNU keeper and deflecting it slightly.

Eastbourne with more than a chance to go 4-1 and close the game got complacent and let BNU back in the game with 20' to go. Clumsy challenge from CB in the box, and pen awarded. BNU CMF converting the pen.

3-3 came from Eastbourng GK and CB misunderstanding. CB heading the ball back as he was under pressure. Keeper was coming out to collect the ball (didn't call for it). Header basically beat the keeper - BNU striker tapped it in.

Fair result, nice game playing with determination but also fair play from both teams. Eastbourne, despite not playing that much better than their opponents, could/should have put the game beyond reach with a fourth. Credit to BNU for believing in getting a result and picking up the point.

Meh not in this country I don't think.

Definitely not in Italy where I come from. They tend to honour their murderers and cheaters and make them their leaders :)

Anyway, 7 seasons out of 7 to me is a lifetime! I'm only youngish!!!
