Killer bees...how come you did default? We thought that it might have been as you wanted to stay in Cap 8?

We couldn't get a full team, too many of us made big plans for the night before - it was a shame cos we were doing pretty well in the second half of the season

That's some pretty ordinary post-getting-your-ass-handed-to-you-in-the-first-round smack talk Ronnie. Think you could have taken points off us do you? :)

Marist Skins are the newly promoted team from Div 9.  We went down 2-1 to the Killer Bees.  The conditions were pretty awful really and the game was pretty tight.

We are looking for a mid table finish are winning Div 9 ahead of Tawa Bears last season.

I only joined last year, so am really unsure of the history of the Skins, or even how we got our name?

Anyway we lost to Div 6 Brooklyn and beat Wellington United Div 7 in warm ups.

Agreemnet from this killer bee, thought both teams played pretty well in the conditions and both sides had chances also. Good clean game apart from the pitch. As usual the bees didn't have pre season games apart from us kicking the ball around between us last Saturday for 1/2 an hour and ithen drinking for 3 - 4 hours. Again i fell our early season form may hold us back, but wait for the end of season form.

Tawa Saintz 3- Salmon1

Salmon butchered enough early chances to put the Saintz away, while Tawa grew in confidence as the game progressed, and scored two from corners late in the game.
Tawa centre backs are a wiley pair!

A real nice bunch of blokes, the Saintz- they should join the forum

so far we have Marist, Killer Bees and Salmon- Any other Div 8 lurkers?

Match reports from Bees and Skins please

North Wellington 0 - Marist Skins 0

This was more exciting than the scoreline suggests.  North Wellington are a well organised team of Asian descent, who won 7-0 in Round One and the sight of them doing warm up routines was daunting.  They are a skillful team who probably deserved to win, but may have had a hangover on attack from Round One.

Their defenders were fast and long legged chopping down our attacks.

The first quarter they dominated, while on the second quarter we dominated, but just couldn't finish off.

The second half they were camped in our half and we were pretty happy with the draw.

Be wary, these guys are good!

The bees 4 Chuggers 3

Pretty tough game, that had it all. Classy play, soft goals and even some biffo. Both teams had a couple of hot heads who seemed intent on upsetting each other and after the worst handbag throwing i've ever seen the game seemed to settle down. The second half saw a very spread out pitch and no midfield to speak of with bees leading throughout and the chuggers fighting for survival. Must say their fitness pulled them back into contention dominating the last 20 minutes. Apart from the biff a good hard game which was mostly clean. Could see the chuggers upset a few teams. Hopefully the salmon.

Well done Bees- a tough game at Melrose yesterday

Salmon 0- SVKB 1
Stokes Valley took a very nice goal and generally played the smarter footie, Salmon had a strong finish but couldn't capitalise on some great chances- Bees keeper made one save all match, but what a save. Generally a good natured contest- some whinging, but not too bad- you played well in the 2nd half Corn dog- look fwd to the rematch, but you shouldv'e come back to the club rooms

a cold beer was waiting!

Marist Skins 2 - Petone JJs 0

The Skins got their first win of the season with a goal in each half against the Petone JJs at the wind swept Cobham Park.  The first half was pretty even, with the Skins scrambling a first half goal on the half hour mark into the wind.

The second half was one way traffic with the Skins dominating territory esepecially, eventually securing the second when a JJs defender skied a header which steppled into his own net.

It was a good natured game played in bitterly cold wind!

so far we have only met good bastards in Div 8- long may it last, cos its only social football after all

thanks for the update Stags Fan- llok fwd to meeting you on the pitch- we are the only two Wgtn City teams( you can't count Tawa or J'ville!)

Bees 1 salmon 0

Despite the wind I felt both teams played pretty nice football and honestly feel the result should have been a draw but a mighty save from geezer in goal kept the salmon out. It was for the most part a game of two halves with the team into the wind seemingly dominating play. Unfortunately there was a couple of parties on and with designated drivers we had no choice but to head back out of town. But a beer will be waiting for you Mr Salmon on the return game up in the valley.

The Bees 4 Tawa Saintz 4

Saintz by name but not by nature.

The worst referee I have ever seen from Tawa in the first half. Gave a penalty for two players running into each other which was thankfully overturned by one of their midfielders (Good sport) he gave an offside on a throw in and they were his good calls.

In between there was some fantastic open play from both teams and a geat goal from one of their players from well outside the area. We helped the cause with two own goals  and with 20 to play looked destined to a loss. At 3-2 another penalty was awarded, to the valley this time for handled ball in the box. There was an uproar from Tawa calling the Bees a bunch of cheats, but after the game a spectator said it was a definate handball. A tense last ten saw Tawa then the Bees score.

At this early stage I will be bold and call this team the Seatoun of this season. Can't wait to play the other Tawa team next week.

& i am pretty sure that Skins beat Spackoes- 2-0 i think

Salmon outgunned JJ's- to be fair they were missing their bespectacled striker from seasons past

Salmon prove that they shouldn't be taken lightly, the type of team that struggle against poorer teams and raise the bar against better oppo-

what happened versus Bears Corn dog?

Yeah The Skins dominated and won 2-0 over the Spackos.

We lacked our finishing which was on fire against Lower Hutt the week before, but still did enough to get by and take the three points.  THe weather is always extreme this season.  We didn't help our goal difference much.  It has to be said that in this grade, the ability of teams change so much from week to week.  The Spackos have probably improved a little from their initial hidings.  We have Tawa Bears next week.  We got promoted ahead of them last year.  IT will be interesting as the Tawa teams did well this week.  Some of the top teams dropped points at the weekend, so there is a close dogfight at the top of the table now!

So the Salmons are timing their run then?

K Bees 1 Tawa Bears 1.

Total contrast to the other Tawa team, great bunch of guys played well and referreed fairly.

Fairly even play in the first half with great end to end ball play from both teams with the Bees probably slightly on top. 0 all at half time. Second half totally dominated by the bees with 75% of play inside the bears half. 20 minutes in the bees scored and the bears reply was the last kick of the game.

Again great bunch of guys and look forward to the return game where hopefully the bald guy who played for the bees might get a shot on goal at least.
