Thomas Jefferson is credited with saying The government you elect is government you deserve.

This really seems to apply to Football.  The recent ructions in the local game, with apparently a majority in the playing community having at least one major gripe about decisions made by either the CEO or Board of Capital Football, and yet we effectively see the status quo re-elected.

I despair sometimes when people moan like hell about some decision, and then when challenged, "what are you going do do about it?", reply "nothing" (What they really mean is 'I'm going to carry on moaning and whinging, but not do anything effective'.)

You might be right.  Or Rightstr might be right.  His suggestion was that in fact it was only a whinging minority that thought there was anything wrong, and in fact the vast majority were happy with the direction of the organisation.  I think that's a fairly supportable position now.  Clearly not many, if any, have any complaint with the current Board, and that's why they've been re-elected.

Celebrities here: Michael Glading. Bill Moran. Grant Herman.

Davey F and the renaming of Farrington Field got a shout out just now as did Atilla Varga.

I'm bored. Greene is asleep.

Chairman David is reading every word of his chairman's report. Just finishing up now by fluffing Keith Palmer.

Is there a doctor in the house? Greenie is in a coma I think.

Are there donuts and/or pie at this gathering?

No. With a 100k surplus I'd have hoped for eclairs.

Greenie just threw Keith a curve ball about succession planning which he sidestepped and ignored.

Prior to that we heard no National Wimmins League this year but maybe Nat Wimmins Tournament.

Remit now going on extensively about Wimmins footy. Fascinating, if that's your thing.

Greene update: awake now. Breathing sporadic. Communicating with blinks and finger waves.

I wasn't asleep. I was just trying to remember my CPR in case I needed it for any of the old codgers there.

That Chair was a legend.

Some old dude rattled on about how we need to train up 200 cadet referees under the age of sixteen, and have two club official in yellow jackets at every ground assisting the referee with crowd control. Does he think we have volunteers coming out of our ears? We cant even get linesmen.

I talked up the cost of senior coaching cetificates a bit too much. $1200 for lev 3 - but its pretty intensive these days. Still, having them in Akld aint great

Pretty much.

At least you put your money where your mouth is and stood for election Smithy. That's more than most of "the whinging minority" will ever do.
