That's why my child who had thermal's etc on, said "dad my hands stung when i put them in the shower!!!" This u dick, equals hypothermia and today's conditions were exceptional and someone needed to make that call due to that FACT!!!
To play in the rain is ok, but conditions associated are significant and should be considered!!!!
IF YOU WERE THAT CONCERNED WHY DID YOU LET YOUR SON PLAY!!!!!!!!!!

I've already said that CF has been quite good this year.
My 230 kick off game was cancelled (after we had warmed up, put the nets up etc), but I was a bit shocked when I saw that they had a junior and a capital 13 game on Kelburn Park before our game.

I am all for "everyone should get a game" but when I played in the lower division, never did I dream of using the University's home ground for a game and then their second team couldn't play.

Maybe I'm just angry I didn't get to play, but that is, to me, poor management. I know there is a shortage of pitches, but ...

Sorry, thats rubbish in my opinion.

Firstly, stiinging hands in the shower is called chillblains, not hypothermia, nowhere nearly the same thing.

What do you think they do in Russiia when the weathers a bit cold, moan about hypothermia or put on gloves and thermal leggings? I mean, it wasnt even below freezing today, I tell you I have played in some pretty cold (but playable) conditions in my time in the UK.

Secondly, Capital football job is to get pitches ready and say when they are unfit.
Surely players, coaches and referees have got to take responsibility for individual games - if its that bad, call it off, but dont blame Capital Football.

Having said that, I played this p,m. in conditions that were frankly ridiculous, but as Capital Football hadnt called it off everyone felt they should play. I have never played in the Uk in conditions like that, the pitch was like Southport Sands at high tide. You couldnt pass the ball at all, and that WAS totally stupid.

Yeah was pretty surprised afternoon games didnt get called off. The weather got worse and worse, and it was a little ridiculous come 2pm (Stewsmum vs Salmon got called off with 10 to go...but it was fine to play at the start of the game)

it'd be interesting to understand the rules a bit better. According to our [female] ref, first the pitch was "marginally fine", then "it was not" and furthermore "once I start a game, I have to continue till the end" - which is surprising to me.

Div 9 doesn't get refs- its a lawless paradise for the hackers and conmen
No actually, a gentlemens agreement bewteen ref and the captains meant that common sense prevailed with ten to go and the score at 3-0 & a sideways southerly hail

How considerate of CF to think of our kids health!!
Damned if they do, damned if they dont.

Weather was great when I got up in Plimmerton, we've had a few spits and thats it.
But looking towards town it looks very dark and dodgy.
Most kids would prefer to have a run around rather than sit at home. And if they didn't, then they're soft. It's a winter game.

we all know how much you love to sit on ur ass, but some of us are actually parents and don't wish to spend time off work and other chores looking after sick kids, especially the one's i have just seen soaked to the bone freezing their hypothermic bodies off !!!! Harden up is a funny call to make from such a soft ass like urself
Obviously your kids are soft. Too much playstation inside perhaps. I'd be gutted when I was a kid if I was cancelled. And we played in the same sort of weather as yesterday and I don't ever remember getting sick. Maybe because we were taught to move rather than just stand there.

I'm on the harden up bandwagon. We played in fork lightning once! Certainly made you run faster! Ok so it was a few kms away but still rather frightening for a child but a good experience none the less!!

Parents like you are the reason children of this generation are going to become more fragile and more sick easier because you don't let them be kids and just do what kids do. So what if they get a cold, helps to build natural immunities in the body! I suppose you tell your kids not to climb trees or eat dirt either!

Yeah, geophagy was my favourite pastime when I was a kid.

Probably goes to St Marks, where they have banned kids from jumping in puddles,to protect them from getting sick.
