Was good battle at Hutt park. Both teams played some good footy.  Stop out a bit more useful in the top third. Their striker shouldn't go grabbing people's nuts regularly though as it might not be appreciated

Heard there was a bit of a rumble.
nah handbags. apart from the ball grabbing, after the game Jock went off at Jake the Snake after some niggle which left the pom ball grabber yelling that he was gonna kill the scotsman. A card each I think.

The pom ball grabber looked a good player. Strong, quick and had a good touch. Fits right into the stop out mould of being a whinger. I still find it hard to believe players at this level are paid, it is a bit of a joke to be honest the quality is not good enough to demand monetary payment.

Aha! That's market economics or something...   I think....
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Add to the above, threatening to kill another player should have some repercusions, multiple witnesses...

So who decides who is good enough to be paid?

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Indeed.

I talked to a guy at the gym, earlier today,  who had been reading the comments about payments. Interesting chat. His thoughts were, not verbatim but here goes...   'NZ has been all about a free market since the early 80s, Everything has a price. I see schoolkids playing sports with sponsors names on their shirts. If a market can support paying players so be it after all isn't that what NZ is now about?'

Mate whats your problem with a team celebrating a win. Remember Wainui are really really shit at football, they're actually just a bunch of piss heads who like to get over there hangover from Friday night with some footy. So when they take the piss out of stop out one week then silence another bots team the following week there's an obligation to party like never before, I heard Tepuni's Uncle got the boys worked up and said if they win he would take the boys back to the ganghouse/pad and put a $1000.00 on the bar.

^i agree. Good results should be celebrated. Just like the ASB ads

Anyone have a team list for Petone's team?

Permalink Permalink

University got a good 3-0 win away at Petone's reserves yesterday.  Back at Petone Memorial next week for the Chatham Cup tie.

I've heard that Uni are quite handy this season, can you tell us any more about them?

Uni is pretty much the same team as the one that got promoted from Cap 1 last year, with a few good additions. Coaches have built  pretty good squad to back up the starting line up when there are injuries, uni holidays etc.

Also, the new turf at Petone is fantastic. They seem to get better with each new turf that is installed.

1 All draw with Wainui and Marist - Fair result

And Wainui coach is gone - full story in their match day programme

hatrick of sackings?

Wharf came from 2-0 down to beat Mar 3-2 at DF. Sasha made a top save at 2-1 to keep Wharf in game - and then they kicked on to win it.

Woops - forgot about this. Long story short, had a falling out with some more senior players. Who told him not to come to the Chatham Cup game. And he basically told them to get stuffed in general.
It seems to be from chatter in the club room his personality and demeanour was just to negative for even the 'tough gang boys' of Wainui to handle

The goals for and against collumn is quite interesting. Wainui have only scored five goals in seven games but have seven points.

In Marist defense. I did play 60 minutes and concede 3 goals with a fractured Metacarpal bone :P

his sessions are pretty good, he has the football knowledge, he's a philosophy but from wot I've heard he's a pretty negative, but the coaching learning process is a long long way

I heard as they didnt get a win bonus last week they had no money for their internet connection. Wasnt really a tough choice, spend money on beer or net?

They will be back on next week though as they dont have to feed their kids thanks to Mr Key, so will be able to afford to get back online.

Petone 0 Wharf 5 (Batty, Hill, Webb, Lewer, Poly). Bizarre free kick goal by Batty who lobbed the keeper from near halfway and near the sideline.
