Agree 100%, and it wasn't "the plan".  I think from memory Gee played 3 times this year, 2 as a sub, and the last game was the first he started.  But you are bang on the money, it cannot be done.

Wharf beat Petone 1-0. Only goal (J Hill) came in 89th minute.

Stop Out beat Vic Uni 6-0.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Well done SO. Easily the best side in Cap Prem,

Permalink Permalink

Dunno 'bout easily the best. I reckon IBU were pretty damn close despite today's result when the lads perhaps knew it was all over.

Permalink Permalink

well, based on the games I've seen of both side.

Permalink Permalink

Fair enough. But what's that? 2 of each when you've played against them?

Permalink Permalink

I think 3 for each team.

Permalink Permalink

I don't think anyone holds Dale's opinions in high regard - but fair to say Stop Out were the best team and deserved winners. Congrats

Yep fair enough.  Congrats Stop Out. I knew 2ndbest was trolling but couldn't let it slide.

Permalink Permalink

Not trolling. Genuinely believe they are better across the park than any other side.

Permalink Permalink

Easily tho? I disagree, and without laying out a bunch of ifs buts and maybes it could've been very different had the second match up between Stop Out and IBU not been during the biggest storm in 50 years. But you're entitled to your opinion based on what you've seen. Including today's out of character IBU match.

Permalink Permalink

See that's the thing - IBU lost hard to Miramar when it mattered. Stop Out lost early to Wainui, but then kicked on to just roll over everyone else in the league. IBU choked in that game against Karori.

Gotta agree with 2ndBest - Stop Out had the best all round team - golden boot in the team also helps

Permalink Permalink

It didn't matter against Mar. Stop Out were 5 nil up when the game started.

And to call that game against Karori is harsh. Very rough free kick given.

Anyway I'm not debating Stop Out were the better team. That is clear by results and their position. But to call them easily the best is a stretch.

Permalink Permalink

You realise we had nothing to play for yesterday either? Given the amount of whining their players were doing, they seemed pretty keen to win.

And SO scored 10 more goals than you, and conceded 10 less.

Permalink Permalink

It's still only one game you're judging them on.

It was still a league of fine margins regardless of goal difference. 1 or 2 close games and a couple of postponement calls having significant impact.

Interesting convo this... Based on your explanation above though, you would also believe Karori were pretty close to SO as well, now that they are back ahead of Island Bay? Goal difference does paint a good picture of where teams have got it right and where they have got it wrong though. Stats don't tell the whole story but they certainly don't lie.

Funny you say that because I hear that you're opinions are often laughed at in Wellington football circles.

Yep fair enough that goal difference is an indicator without anything else, but I'd be surprised if many people who saw all three teams throughout the season thought Stop Out were 'easily' the best side. It was another tight league at the top with not many points dropped.

I think you've *facepalmed* here TL7. Greenie was poking fun at Dale, not actually having a go.

And, while everyone laughs at Greenie's drunken antics, he's actually a well respected and long-serving member of the football community in Wellington. This website exists because of him for a start. So I think you should perhaps pull your head in a little.

And AJ13. Well. You are a constant source of something. I'm just not sure what it is.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Stop! Don't even think that. How bad will I feel if Stop Out don't win it now???

Stop Out would probably be my pick to Win the League this year. The New English Lad up front  looks to be a very good pick up for Stop Out and I would be surprised if he does not go close to Golden Boot this year.

That is probably the biggest Jinx posting ever! Sorry Mike!

INDEED!!

Mind you, as we said post-match on Saturday we've only got to part one of the two part programme.  Eyes on the playoff.

I'll take it on board smithy, although my comment had nothing to do with how you/him and his mates get along
, nor did it really have anything to do with 2B. All I said was I had heard a fair few negative comments aimed in his direction around welly this winter. I'm sure he's not too bothered by it anyway, after all, if you mug other people off all the time you have to expect it (and he probably just thinks I'm making it up). But all noted anyway - keep off the founder's back or p*** off. As you were everyone.

So with Ole shipping off to Wests next year, Island Bay are going to be left with a bit of a whole to fill I guess? Most of a team and a coach? Failed experiment?

More a case of "make a contribution to the game before you have an unsubstantiated crack at people who do."

Nobody likes a keyboard warrior mate. The people who don't like Greenie are probably capable of telling him themselves.

I have no idea why there is so much discussion about Greenie in a Capital Premier thread - is it 2004 again?

I would almost regret starting this if it hadn't provided us all with a bit of a giggle. The self righteous yf exec at their best (apologies to the ones who don't have their heads in the clouds). More people would have a crack if it wasn't for the position they hold in Wellington football - fact. Ps I don't doubt the contribution you guys have made but it doesn't automatically give you the right to mug off others who are trying. I'm done here.

Try and elevate your contribution from painting the lines on the field. Later

Wait till after last games are finished a few high hopes  dashed in here.

Soon will come calls for no 2nd teams in Cap Prem.

but best will be calls for 12 team CL just so some clubs can make it.

What was that you were saying about not knowing who I am? Some people don't know what you do either (which is good by me by the way)
