The Wairarapa do in fact have an airport. Problem is, that Air New Zealand only fly between Masterton and Auckland, and I think it is only 5 days a week. So if you have to travel here from Auckland, you either fly into Palmerston North and bus over, or come down on the Friday night, and head back Monday. Not ideal, even for National League. I would think that NZF would take all factors into account when working out the best case/worst case for the bids. My point I am trying to make is that I support Wairarapa Football 110%. The key word is Wairarapa. We have seen over the past years, local players slowly being moved out of the chances to play Central League or higher by players that are brought in for the $$$, and not the passion to play for the area they are brought up in. Douglas Villa Fc Masterton AFC and now Greytown Fc have established Capital Football status by maintaining the use of local players, and giving them a stepping stone to higher things. Ok Wairarapa United have now established an academy for the school kids to be involved in, but how long before parents think it is not worth their money to send their kid, only to have them not make that final step because they have been moved out by "imports" looking at making money? Maybe a different forum to be posting this on?
