Or Darren White even???
Chatham Cup 2014
This is a little bit old news now but Wanderers stalwart Rod de Lisle has allowed me to publish his excellent write-up of the Hamiltonians defeating North Shore in the cup week before last. His account of their subsequent triumph over Bay Olympic is going up tomorrow.

Nice stuff, Rod, your Unicol heritage is showing. (Tks Enzo)
For a quirky Chatham Cup read also try Melville avoid a Cup banana skin at Ngongotaha

And here's part 2/2. A bit more current, Rod's account of Wanderers' 3-2 victory over Bay Olympic on Saturday.

We've got some shit planned for the Quarter Final - check it out in the other thread: http://www.yellowfever.co.nz/categories/regional-f...
To have value, they have to have a chance of winning. With due respect to Melville whom are a very well run club and have pulled off some good results recently, I don't think they will take this. I hope they do because I dislike Sports but I can't see them getting past Onehunga nor value a bet on them.
Big day for families and kids planned for Kiwitea Street this Sunday...
Hi Jeff,
Don't completely discount Melville. We have not been beaten in our last 12 matches (and have won 10 of them), we have a young Welsh striker who arrived mid-season and has now scored 11 in 11 games (in what is a very good Div 1 this year), and back on the Melville No 1 pitch (now reopened) we have only lost once (to Roy Krishna in last year's semi) since 2012.
Aaron Scott is playing out of his skin in defence
Onehunga have lost Stuart Holthusen, their only goalscorer of note, who has gone to the US, and got humped 3-0 last week.
At the same stage last year we were hopeless underdogs to a much vaunted Birkenehad who led the premier league at the time, but managed to tuck them away at home, 3-2.
I concede that the betting money is obviously going on Onehunga - they have shortened from $1.75 opening - but in my view Melville are well worth a lazy $5 at those odds.
Hope this helps.
how does Melville afford imported players ? ...
Hello Big T.
It is not that expensive, as long as you can place them in employment, and they are happy to pay their airfare up-front as their own investment in the arrangement (with reimbursement weekly).
Our club is debt-free and and while we are focused upon ongoing capital development, given advertisers paying annually for ground hoardings there is also a certain obligation to invest some of the revenue in a product that attracts eyeballs - otherwise the whole sports advertising proposition fails.
In recent years Melville imports have included Ceri James, Osian Jones, Mike Thompson (12 goals in 11 premier matches), Jordan "The Tractor" MacCarter (13 goals 26 games), Garmon Hafal (7 goals in 12 games), and now Leon Newell, a former Birmingham City youth player, who has proved real value (11 in 11 games). Some of those players now act to recommend the Melville experience to others in the UK who are looking to play offshore or travel.
that's great news what Melville are doing, my club have brought 3 imports in 3 years . Although you take a chance some what ,it creates a feel good factor within the club, and brings a different character to the region. Some people will comment that it takes a spot from a young local, but the young locals thrive on training and playing with them and they get an in sight of what it takes to crack it over seas.
Keep up the good work Bruce

tweet updates on the right side
Unfortunately both IBU and NCR spent the entire 90 minutes kicking lumps out of each other, throwing handbags and complaining.
A bit ill-tempered yes. I was disappointed with the way IBU played in the front third. The continual long balls just weren't working given the conditions and the option taking was poor. I thought the 1st penalty was bullshit but the second was clear cut. NCR looked like they play at a higher level week in week out which of course they do.
Also it was absolutely shocking that NCR allowed John Miles to continue after being clearly knocked out. He ended up collapsing on the field and being taken away in an ambulance on a stretcher. If he was given proper medical help at the start instead of being allowed to keep playing then it may not have come to that. We really should be handing out very serious fines/bans to NCR officials for those disgraceful actions. If a player gets KO'd and does not know where they are then they should come off the pitch straight away and not need to collapse several more times.
went to the a Central vs Wanderers game. It was an excellent , very open game with both sides wanting to play.
The game was very even and it wasn't until the 70th odd min that Tade scored. The second wasn't until the 90th min that Tade scored to seal the victory. Wanderers had a great chance to equalise when they blew a 3 on 1 situation
It was a really exciting game to watch . Tade was the difference in the end
Well done to the Central Club for putting on a great day . They really do things well
Wanderers gifted them the 2nd goal too when their left back decided to do his best Steven Gerrard impersonation and put Tade in one on one with the keeper.
Yeah I thought Wanderers fronted up. Tade makes this level look easy.
Cossey has a nice little side there I think.
I agree but you have to take your opportunities. Tade is class but Central will miss him from now on in. He is away back home for 5 weeks

Yeah. Some games he makes the ASB look easy too. Still young-ish. Makes one wonder just where his level could be.

If this is true , thats it for Central ...
Semi Final "Draw Predictions" or lets just chose the two teams closest to each other and call it a "Draw"
Central V Onehunga at Kiwitea St
NCR V Cashmere at Park Island
Hope it is this ...
Never happen Bozz they need Auckland team in Final so its at NHS because of all Auckland Womens final as Curtain Raiser
NZ Football advise that draw will be done tomorrow morning @ 9am.
In the carpark at Mt Smart ...all welcome .....*
* Not neccesarily true
Here's my slightly belated write-up and photies from Central Wanderers yesterday for anyone interested:
seems legit
Onehunga v Cashmere Tech
Central v NCR
Oh boo- wanted NCR to get a home semi so I could watch in the comfort of my postcode
(Ps. Go Shankedit!)
in before the conspiracy theorists.
Hmmmm not in this case. If both Auckland sides got each other then maybe. I think both Cashmere and NCR will fancy themselves to make it a final somewhere else in the country.
If Central win their Semi then the Final will be at Kiwitea street. It'll just be way too easy and convenient for NZF to say no to.
