Mar vs United was a cracker, finished 3-1 to the 'mar but not before United butchered numberable chances, 3 reds, handbags off the pitch between sent off players, a questionable penalty and Miramar scored all 4 goals.

Best value $2 I've spent in a long time.  Huge crowd in as well, haven't seen that many at Farrington Field since the marfia were in the National league play-offs.

Agree, it was a pearla.  Shame it ended 10 vs 9....it was shaping up as a real ding dong....2-0 down at HT, Mar weren't even in it for the first 15-20 of the second half and United did squander a few great chances before getting back to 2-1 ,and their constant pressure deserved it.  I am still shaking my head at the handbag sendoffs....nobody was interested that the Mar player crashed to the earth after being shot by a sniper (a push in the back after kicking out)....play was on halfway before the Ref stopped to refer to the linesman who witnessed the atrocities that had unfolded.  and all of a sudden we are down to 10 players each....  I have seen ALOT worse in regular league play, this was Quarter Final Football.......
Nobody was stretchered off, nobody broke any bones, I didn't even witness any droplets of blood, as you might expect for a Quarter final....and yet we had 7 yellow cards and 3 reds?

Somebody liked the attention.....and it wasn't the 22 on the paddock.  Good luck to Miramar, keep the Cup in Wellington I say...

I think it was the 4th official rather than the linesman.  The linesman in that half spotted it and read it for what the majority of the crowd thought it was, nothing.

Read your texts Farken.

Dicey and Sutherland for the Handbags (Sutherland a second yellow), and Trent Watson for two yellows.

Alderdice got a straight Red (" for nothing") and Watson got a 2nd Yellow which was more lazy than malicious.

I'd be surprised if the ref hasn't earned himself a headline in tomorrow's paper. Can only blame ourselves for all the missed chances though, had the majority of them. Agree mumbino, go the Mar keep it in Welly.

Fuck this stupid game

That own goal was the best diving header I've seen in some time!  Certainly a weekend for own goals in the capital.

Don't think I am going to make it to this game today Buffy.

Let me know how it goes

You didn't miss much, it wasn't a good game. Forrest Hill played hoof ball. Bay Olympic waved imaginary cards and whinged all day to the ref (mostly just Strom and McKenzie tbf). Forrest Hill actually had the better chances but i don't think they played the better football. Go figure.

The atmosphere was dead too. Had some bloke on the PA trying to rev up the crowd every 10 mins, pathetic.

Was stood behind Glenfields goal in the 2nd half - the goal that wasn't given was more likely over the line than the one that got given at the end. The lino looked about 12 and was copping it from the ECB's fans all of the 2nd half - probably why he gave it
Agreed, that's the way it looked from half way(and I'm a Glenfield supporter).
When Seaman was pulled down in the box, I thought that was an automatic penalty and Glenfield were into the next round.  Felt that Glenfield had the better control and better chances in the second half via Mike Mulrooney (spelling?), but some of the passing let them down.  ECB were faster and fitter.  Both sides moaned incessantly.  Still, good end to end stuff.

Michael Glading was at the FHM v Bay Oly game on sunday and i saw him in dealings with the ECB chairman, it is believed that this will ensure ECB have a home semi in the draw today.

The draw, made live on Radio Sport on Tuesday, also opened the possibility of a Chatham Cup final hosted in Wellington or Dunedin.

New Zealand Football confirmed that if the winter football showpiece, played on the first weekend in September, featured no Auckland team the game would be played at the ground of one of the finalists rather than North Harbour Stadium, the host of nine of the last 11 finals.

They should flip a coin. Heads, Miramar play at home. Away, Caversham play away..

Just checked - it'd be a "drawing of lots" scenario so basically a coin toss.

Would be odd if Caversham had to play Ferrymead Bays, then Bay Olympic, then East Coast Bays...

Come on final in Dunedin... would be good to see Carisbrook get a football game like this before she goes.

-edit-
Cavy have already lost one of their import players, Taylor Powers. I think Dave Butler will be heading back to the states soon too. Patrick Fleming will be there for the semi-final, but should we make it into the final, a number of the squad are likely to be back to studies in the USA, they are: Taylor Powers, Dave Butler, Seamus Ryder, Patrick Fleming and Tom Jackson. (Fleming and Jackson scored 5/7 goals against Ferrymead) So there are potentially a couple of my teammates stepping up from reserve league into a Chatham cup final...

I doubt Caversham will beat Bay Olympic. They may be c**ts, but they are highly skilled c**ts. Caversham will be up against it.
