Excellent Wests in the final again too bad my home town team( they are Porirua based) have no players living in the area or so I believe. Oh well still they made the final.

Mind you what teams in the Central League have all their players live in the respective area, having said that I believe in there current senior team roster there are probably up to 8 players who live in the "greater Wests region" i.e. from JVille, Tawa, Whitby, and Paraparaumu. chareimos2007-08-11 19:27:48

thats good news . the clubrooms lack character THOUGH I SUPPOSE THE HISTORY OF THE CLUB IS ALL UP AT THE OLE ACADEMY. THEY NEED THINGS ON THE WALLS ETC

There used to be plenty of history adorned on the walls, when we moved from the Kenepuru clubrooms to Endeavour.

i agree it is a shame that the history of the club has no place on the walls, just recent achievements and tops and t-shirts of recent visitors.

Western were a functional if boring team, size advantage, Cavvie were noticeably smaller.
Cavvie lost a bit of their way after the loss of the import up front, hammy. They play an attractive style, quick movement of ball and player.
2nd goal was goalkeeper error. Third goal was pushing forward, tired legs left space.
The ginga called Roddy was impressive, quick, strong.
John Harrahap is the most overrated player Iv'e played against, he was overrated when he played down south, The Gorilla next to him was entertaining, even if Cavvie should have exposed his lack of pace.
Keeper looked class.

Ive only watched Cavvie a couple of times this year, Dave does look the goods except there are some concerns about being injury prone. Cavvie nurse him every game.

Cavvie play an attractive flowing game but probably lacked the depth across the paddock to beat Wests. Wests out muscled them in the midfield but lacked flair, very one dimensional. Overall Wests deserved the win.

It would be good if Canterbury and Otago could sort out a South Island League. There are three teams in the Southern League who are well above the rest. Overall the standard has slipped in the last 10 years. Some very average teams, Southland (Old and slow, Kenny Cresswell is playing for them), Green Island, Grants Braes, Mosgiel etc

Would agree totally, I understand that Southland are the only other one from the Southern League that have indicated they are keen. Would be a mistake to include them, they are poor at best.
The whole point is to increase the standard.
It now all depends on the Christchurch/Nelson teams.

and i dont know of many leagues were all the teams have the same quality of players, there will always be some teams that are better and some that are below par

The difference in the teams is comparable to the difference in Grades. There is a very noticeable gap between 3rd and 4th.

Where are Mosgiel sitting on the table?
