Coaching Qualifications?

Hey guys, I'm wanting to start my coaching qualifications soon, but the NZF brochure on the nzfootball website is a little confusing. It suggests that coaches should start with the 'Small Whites Award" for coaching little kiddies, but I'm wanting to get my qualifications for senior coaching. I'm currently coaching my social Uni side, so I'm getting a bit of experience, but don't know where to start. Can someone who's got their qualifications tell me where I should start?

Cheers, Shab

P.S. I post it in here because I assumed Capital would have something to do with it.

Shabs.  Call Bev Priestman at Capital Football 586 5813.

She's away mind you on the Oceania Under 12s Holiday Junket so speak to Andy Hedge and he should be able to give you the run down on what's what.

If you've got senior coaching experience or a reasonable playing career at senior level, probably better going for the Level 2 National Academy Licence. From the AFF website:

Who is the course aimed at?

Coaches with the desire to increase their own effectiveness in supporting their players needs in competitive senior coaching environments. Senior coaches working at all levels in the game with an interest to develop their knowledge and skills or with ambitions to coach at a higher level. Youth coaches who are interested in gaining the necessary knowledge and skills to support their players transition towards the senior competitive Level.

Entry Requirements Coaching Scheme

Evidence of coaching at Senior or Youth competitive levels or:

Evidence of the Old Advanced Junior Club Coaching Certificate or;

Evidence of Playing experience at National League, International Representation or local Premier League representation.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Actually i would like to plug the junior coaches they run.  I have just completed the small white introductionary course and the silver level 1 for 9-12 year olds.  It was very good.  Highly recommend to any mum or dad who take their child's team.

Cheers Smithy, I rang today and Andy said that the senior courses weren't going to start until next year because NZF were getting the junior and youth courses fully implemented. though he did say that Bev was going to organise a senior coaching workshop later this year for people interested in starting next year, and he recommended that I should take the youth course as a starter to get myself ready for the senior stuff.

The only really time consuming one is the very top one - the International Licence.  The rest don't have massive time commitments outside the course time.
