The draw and details are on the Coastal Website Looks to be a good spread from around the South Island plus a few from Wellington. Obviously hard to compete with the Napier tournament however we are trying to offer something to the rest. Interested to hear your thoughts on frontrunners to win.

I think last year proved rankings aren't much to go by, but surely main teams will be likes of Tech (even if not their main 19's) Coastal always up there, Mosgiel (if any I their squad from last year still available)

I see Waimak have already defaulted for tomorrow.  Was that planned or injuries strike or other?

Not sure but no good for  Mosgiel.

Was Dante's the long range shot into top corner? That was a powerful strike!

White team could have had 3 goals in that first half. A shot hitting the post, another blocked on the line, and one that went narrowly wide. Second half was thoroughly dominated by Black though.

Waterside Karori top of Women's Pool B, with some matches still to be played in pool. Wharf have one pool match this morning. Coastal White have 2.

Stoppage time goal from Mikaela Boxall for Wharf stealing all 3 points in the last match yesterday against Cashmere Technical.

Coastal Black leading Pool A. They play also unbeaten Wellington United this morning.

Yes Dante's a genuine top corner bullet. Pretty remarkable effort from Taylor to get a hand to it I thought.

White , yeah Louis and Levi both hit the post, a goal would have been good reward for them.

Girls, Coastal Black v Wellington 10:50 kick off Funal

yes if Red Jnr can steer clear of injuries he will go real good.

Wellington Girls I liked #'s 10 and 15

Coastal Black Girls Lily and Holly

Dave (#11) Southland had some flair

Japanese Nomads boy whose name I cannot spell is good (Micuac?)

Good to see both the Meaclem boys in the same side John. There was a player for CTFC who played nice but was possibly only 4'3". It got me wondering about big kids being picked over more technically able kids.

Was that 7 and 13 for coastal girls?

Fair enough coastal won given half Wgtn Utds squad should have been guests.

The number 6 for Chch tech was very good

Well done to all the organisers

Little lads name is Jin, great wee player but against the older teams , it was too much of a gap physically.in saying that I think exposing the younger lads to an older tournament was great for them and the difference between game1 and game 6 was superb. I thought the nomads wide player no11 (I think)was my pick for tournament .

I think most of the them have good technical ability , the smaller lads need to keep playing and challenging themselves against stronger lads. As the physical side (body strength and ball protection)of the game is a major part of being a top player . Look at all the top small player Messi , aguerro , silva etc the are so strong on the ball.

Like the lad Dante he is small but strong and protects the ball well from the opposition. Unfortunately no easy answer for light lads just learn to get stronger on the ball.... By playing more games

Lily was #7. I can't remember what number Holly wore... Either 11 or 13 iirc

Pretty much eh.

I thought a number of smaller and younger players had good tournaments.

Thought all the names you have mentioned did very well. Dante especially

Though Coastal Black's long black hair centre back was good plus there number 10 finnis. Great player with a lot of flair. Also Nomads defender, number 5 I believe looked solid, nothing got past him.

And your 2010 U19 Squad Greenie?

Maybe the organisers need a provision like if you have players out with the National League Competition you are able to have more guest players (like they do in the mens comp) ... Means that organiser's won't need to make exceptions, teams can start preparing earlier, and the players of course aren't going to be as good if the team's lose a player to the National League anyway...

#13 from Coastal was very good - also lined up against Capital the day before - I wonder if she played on the Saturday?

Rules have changed since then to be the club played for in the current season. Holding open trials doesn't give you much of a chance under that. It is tough with the Nwl overlap in the past few years - maybe clubs need the option of going as a composite team so girls don't miss out

100% agree Coastal cb Matt Spain was also awesome all tournie,  Finnis great talent but drifted in and out of games also tended to be lazy at times but definitely a talented young man. If the no5 from Nomads was the lad with a wee ponytail I agree he had a great tournies read the game well n strong as. One wonders what criteria was used in selecting players for Canty youth team trials because I'm sure any of these youngsters mentioned would have been in with a shout....Finnis I know is in the squad but Dante, Matt Spain n even the boy Liam from Nomads surely could have made the squad.

One of the tournament highlights for me was the battle between the two number 7's, Coastal's Aaron Spain & Universities Abdul Khalifa.
