Spirit of the festival
While we expect the games to be played at a high level and for their to be some very good players on show the spirit of the festival is about unity and fair play and we expect teams to self govern themselves. This means a high standard of behaviour is expected including respect for other players, respect for officials and referees and we ask your help to keep the park safe and tidy.
Teams will be representing many different ethnic groups, we encourage you to take the time to talk to the other teams and to learn about their customs and cultures.
Other entertainment and servicesAs well as the football well have music and performances throughout the day, kids entertainment including face painters and push play.
There will be food stalls and a coffee cart (all CASH ONLY) and we are aiming to have a physio present.
There are changing rooms and showers on site.
Remember that is a long day so settle into a corner of the park, pack a picnic and enjoy the festival.
What you need to bring
Cash for food & payment for your team (if you have not yet paid your registration fee you need to let me know youre paying on the day)
Your team kit
Shin pads and boots/sports shoes
Water
Food
Sun block
Parking
There are a number of other events on in the area on the same day which will make parking very scarce. We are also closing parking at some points along Lavaud St. adjacent to the park to allow for better traffic flow.
To ensure you find a park and are not towed please follow these suggestions:
- Please encourage your team to car share/car pool, take public transport (bus to Newtown then walk) or walk and bike
- There is plenty of carparking available at Newtown Park its a good idea to car pool and drop your team at the gate then park at Newtown Park off Russell Tce (see map attached)
- Preferential parking near the ground will be reserved for teams who carpool
- Please arrive early to allow for time to find a park and to walk back to the park from it
There is a temporary drop off zone by the Lavaud street entrance to the park. If you do decide to park illegally you are risking getting towed and there is nothing that WCC or SportZone can do about it.
Payment
Payments were due last Friday 19 March. If you havent yet made payment please get in touch with me to confirm your teams registration and let me know when youre making payment. We can only accept direct debit payments to SportZone Westpac 030 543 0288987 00 or let me know if you are bringing cash on the day.

National Ethnic Tournament
The Cup Final winners of Culture Kicks (open grade) will represent Wellington in the New Zealand Communities Cup later in 2010, at a yet to be determined venue.
Should the Cup winners not be able to make it the runners up will represent Wellington.
Captain's responsibility
We hope your team has a fun time- as you can imagine organising a tournament with over 40 teams is hard work, so we expect you to be the liaison between us and your team, to pass on relevant info and to lead by example in terms of fair play and having a good attitude towards each other and officials.
First Aid
Teams are responsible for their own First Aid although Wellington Free Ambulance will be in attendance. Silverstream Physio will also be on site.
Cancellations
Your team is confirmed to play in Culture Kicks this Sunday. There are no refunds for any cancellations from today onwards and if unpaid you will be invoiced. We look forward
Should you have any further questions please contact me. Tony Morrison can be contacted on 0275776781 or tony@sportzone.org.nz if you have queires about the rules and draw.
Yours in the game,
Rebecca Hardie

The usual suspects were included in the 38 team fixture list with a variety of oldies and newies qualifying for the 1/16th Cup Round. Teams looking the goods early on were West Africa, Tartan Army, Polonez, Burma and Fox FC (Somalia).
Tartan Army were upset by United Arabs and Oromo knocked out Fox FC with an early goal in the Quarter Finals. West Africa blew it in a Semi final penalty shootout against United Arabs who then met Polonez in the final. Polonez cruised to a win making use of their subs against a tired opposition.
Cambodia won the Plate Final on penalties over Back of the Net.
Player of the Tournamenmt was Kevin the goalkeeper from Street Football Wellington.
Trophies and Medals were presented by Andy Barron (Current All White) and Deputy Mayor Ian McKinnon.
Thanks to the refs and Rebecca from WCC for setting up the day for a great occasion.
