Id have thought preseason training was something they'd get round to doing. I'm not going to go book a field then find out they're doing it.

If I hadn't of heard they were having a meeting about it, I'd probably get more proactive and email around people trying to organise something rather than emailing around asking what is going on.

It's also pretty risky going over their heads, what if they hadn't of reimbursed you?

As AJ13 has done you need to get active with your club.
i have had a lot of friends at BNU in the past when she was really struggling and the Psycho's with the girl's team and a few others helped raise money and get the social side going as well as be active on the committee.
i know they struggled and had some hard choice's to make but i also know the survived
This was similar to what we had done at North Wellington when i started to play.
We had no money and a mortgage we struggled to pay and i am proud to say i was part of pulling a club out of bankruptcy and getting the football on the park working as well.
But it was done with players who were working with others with experience to teach them and be cause we were players not parents who thought they knew best we created a real passionate club about the players not some ego of a parent with too much money.
So i hope you get involved to help then learn as these committee members might be getting tired and not doing everything as they should but they don't have the energy to fix it without help.
Transient club members can also cause problems with clubs as they will come in make change and do things but in the end are only there for themselves and can leave the club in a state of kaos so if this has happened in the past you may need to take your time in getting onto the committee as there might be some distrust.
My club is going though a stage at present where the youth voting block has elected there junior committee members who know nothing about a senior football club and are administrators with no connection to the park and players except one guy who says nothing and is not encouraged to engage which is a shame.
so the ball is your court

They don't really seem open to help and discussion either as far as I can tell.

A great example is holding a meeting on the future of the club last season, at exactly the same time as the seniors were kicking off at Wakefield park.

unfortunately Tegal the youth of football today are lazy when it come to running there sport and don't do what they don't have too.

so then the people doing all the work leave or allow other volunteers in and you end up with a committee who are all about power and not actions for the club.

having a meeting so all the club can attend is so members can have input so your account of last season stinks of actions to stay in power.

remember all the players are the club and have the final say so if they are not getting satisfaction they need make this known or elect people who will…..

I have to say it works both way though - having been involved with arguably the largest Club in the Wellington region (Vic Uni, over 20 senior teams between guys and gals at the time), I can tell you that it was a struggle to find people who would be willing to donate their time for the good of their Club.

We literally had to volounteer people for jobs - in the Committee - and if every season we'd get a new person on board (to replace secretaries, treasurers, Club Captains) it would be a miracle!

What I never understood about EFC was why there had to be a board AND a first time to begin with. Or rather, why they had to be completely separate. Sure enough, I didn't go up to the Board and say, give me a job to do, but myself and the other senior players got together for meetings, organized friendlies, mailing lists, I would ensure everyone was available for games and had a ride etc... but that only gets you so far. If you have to reply, like Tegal said, on the 'grapevine' to know when you're getting new balls, a new kit, what is going on etc, it's not going to be very good, is it?

Anyway, I still miss the lads because they're a great bunch - but I have to say, I'm not sure standing alone is the best thing for them, at least at the moment..given the fact that I and other people who would spend some of their time helping out with organizing the team, have either left the Country or switched Clubs.

If you want I can give you the captain's phone number and you can talk to him?
I'm overseas travelling and probably won't be back until next season.

Send me a PVT message.

So you guys are back in Cap5 this season? And Naenae too. Guess a few teams must have dropped out from lower grades. Looks like BNU 3rds were one of them...
