3 0 to ECB who did it easy. They looked like they could score at will. Ok a lot of people will say it wasn't fair because the Miramar team was missing 4 or 5 NZFC players - but ECB have no NZFC players either so it was a fair contest in my view. ECB too good all over the park and have some real good players who if they aren't playing NZFC for Auckland or Waitak should be targeted by TW. The game was a real eye opener as to how weak Central League really is compared to what is on offer in Auckland.

I dont agree. The mar had hardly trained since they won the league, and most of the team didnt know they were playing till 10am friday morn. The game was a glorified kick around. yes ecb were a good side but come on they werent playing the greatest/well prepared of mar sides!

You are kidding yourself. ECB were on an away trip courtesy of Capital Football and hadn't played for 2 weeks (as opposed to mar who played last week). ECB didn't even hit top gear and to suggest a Mar side with the 5 or so missing NZFC players could have competed with them is silly. They scored 2 goals into a gale and another downwind which cut Mar up. They were faster, fitter, more skilful and when it counted, more committed.

The fact they don't have any NZFC players is irrelevant, if the mar were missing 4 or 5 nd they were at full strength then thats not a fair match up is it?

Normo's coming home

looks like you've  missed my point so I'll restate it- Mar without their NZFC players were uncompetitive against a side also without any NZFC players. Its a comment on the strength of the respective leagues, not whether the contest was fair or not.

Really?

I'll be intrigued if Capital Football funded the game...?

Are you sure that's right?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

The game was the United league's idea.

Miramar were playing with 5/6 first team players. The rest including the bench were second team players and school kids. They also havent trained since August and played only a couple of games well understrength.

Not sure of the strength of ECB but they were obviously sharp and fit. When you play in the cup final two weeks prior you are in pretty good nick. Would have been a very good game if Rangers had a full team.

Completely unfair to have a go at the central league based on this horrible game.

Agreed, Miramar were missing truckloads of players, good job for whoever provided the 600 ball boys

Who said 4 or 5 players missing?
Try Chotey, Dicey, Jamie F, Tinkler, Brookie, Battsy, Eager, Brook, Dom, Tommy smith, Big Pete

Well I'm sorry if people think everything about the game was so unfair and so stacked against Mar that the result should be ignored. I saw the game and it wasn't horrible, only the conditions were. ECB's footie made light work of the weather though.

I thought A Team made a pretty reasonable stand-in for little G.

Teams whinging after they have lost is never a good look. "If we had this guy... if that free kick had gone our way"

While I wasn't at the game or privy to it or am a supporter of either side, it sounds like Miramar got the raw end of the deal. The fact remains they fronted up to play and lost 3-0. In 12 months time it wont read about who played and who didn't, it'll just say ECB 3 Miramar 0.

Some times its just best to say 'oh well nevermind' and move on.....

I wouldnt say that the mar are whinging. Its more that you cant say from that one game whether the league that ecb played in is superior to the central league. I think its very much of 'oh nevermind'. To the mar im sure it felt more like a hilton petone game/than a play off to find the best team in the country.

well done to ecb on winning evrything they played in this season which probably proves that they are one of the best, if not the best in the country. Whether they played the mar or not!
