If a club wanted to enter a team to play compeditively in Cap Mens footy, would grade would they most likely need to enter into? I know Wairarapa and Horowhenua clubs come in at Cap3 when they win their respective competitions, so would it likely be Cap4 or Cap5?

For example, if Wests wanted a compeditive 3rd team, or if Pukerua Bay wanted a mens squad.

Cheers.

According to my last conversation with Cap Football you have to start at the bottom grade if you are a new club or else the club you play for can decide themselves what grade you would play but you would probably have to replace one of their existing teams in a grade they have qualified to play in. I think thats a little rough if a new club entered their first mens squad with players of a decent level who wish to play as high as possible. Would Cap Football honestly make clubs wait 13years, in the hope that they promote themselves to at least Cap3?

Players in divisions like Cap16 hardly have even an ounce of desire to aim for promotion, so it would hardly be fair to make those teams who want to achieve a good standard of football play in these grades. Surely there would be some sort of compromise?

Why should there be?

So someone can go and round up a bunch of 15 good players and expect to enter one of the top leagues and bump everyone down a notch...

Bit conceited don't you think?

very conceipted.
THough CF seem to be angling to have the right to enter new teams where they want. The sht would hit the fan if they tried following though on it.

two teams who entered Div 16 in 2009 are now playing in Div 9- a jump of 7 spots in 1 year, and neither of those two won that league- they are doing well in Div 9 but are not shoe ins to win it
so patience is a virtue- the league places eventually even out

No, im not saying one of the top leagues, but there should be a line between what is compeditive/organised and what is social football. Would there really be any difference between Cap16 and Cap 10 anyway? I doubt it. So in that case why should a club be made to enter Cap 16?
Or if you won every game 30-0 in Cap16, would you get promoted to Cap15 or skip a few? I dont think Cap15 would want you anyway, they'd be glad if you skipped ahead.

Well if there's no diff between Cap 10 and Cap 16 then you might as well start in 16 then.

There is a line between Social and Competitive and I reckon it's at the bottom of Cap 1.

Seems to be a lot of grey area here, just from an outsiders perspective anyway.

Three for me, and two for them.

6 years of 1235 goals for and 17 against? What would be the point? But by what Salmon said, im sure if you put forward a good enough case to Capital Football there could be some kind of compromise.

Thanks lads.

Those teams moving were (in the main) a club decision, not a Capital Football decision.

What people might need to do is approach the club and convince the club that they should juggle sides to fit them in.

Wasn't there something proposed at the Capital Football end-of-season review to allow teams in at 5 though ?  I thought I spotted it in some minutes.

That's exactly what has happened this season and they have been allowed into Div 8
Seems things just get made up as they go along

Did Wests just appear in Div 8 in 2010?

Looks that way. Their cap 12 and 15 sides are still there. Looks like Wests took Seatoun's promotion spot from Cap9.

Stokes Valley missed a chance to get some $$ then. They could have sold their Cap 1 spot.

Probably the same minutes that recorded auto relegation and promotion from CL, vapourware until it suits....

Quite a few things from the end of season and pre season CF meetings did not make the minutes, even though discussed.
I blame the ink fading before they got typed up.
