Ref put reds down as yellows. Wtf
I hear the ref and his assistants discussed it after the game and decided neither were red card offences and downgraded to yellows. Both players are cleared to play.
Not sure I agree with downgrading them to yellow but if that's what was reported then I suppose there is nothing to stop them playing
Wasn't someone punched in the head ?

they must of seen orange whatever the hell that means
youngest squad yet - what happened to Seatoun...?
is Jansen their only player? She came on as about a second sub in their last game.
Yes Seatoun only has 1 player picked - a player who couldn't make the starting lineup for the central league 'final' against United.
And yet Upper Hutt has 10 players selected - including 2 who don't even play in the central league! Not strange at all...
Wendi and Briar took the trials and at one point played Upper Hutt vs Rest.
NEUTRALITY is clearly important to Capital Football... Well done!
When they announced Tom Randles as head coach:
"His neutrality in the senior club space is also important when undertaking a role such as this.”
What a joke...
I remember going to a Federation trial back in my early years. After moving it from it's original location on the day (just before kick off), the coach played his club players for the entire trial giving everyone else a 10 minute stint.

Which federation was that?
There are strict rules about trials and the amount of time players get to trial. There should be a number of selectors present and any sort of things like this should be reported to the selectors. Was this before or after the WoF plan was brought in. If it was within the last 4 years there is no way that should have happened. No club coaches are allowed to be running the trial teams from the sideline.

The trials for the Wellington women's team were run by the Hutt .. its ok though because they are female...

I agree this is a joke. Seatoun won The League comfortably .therefore you would expect a number Seatoun players to have made the team rather than just one fringe player.
Clearly there is a huge bias towards the selector's club, Upper Hutt which is embarrassing for them. Capital Football needs to step in to ensure integrity in the process and hold fresh trials with a neutral selector.

Was a while back, over 6 or 7 years ago maybe? Didn't really understand the politics back then :P. Ironically I was in Upper Hutt's academy at the time. I imagine (hope) it's a lot better now.

There are still flaws in the system that need to be addressed but its still a lot better than what you experienced. I remember being a selector one year for one age group and found I was the only selector trying to pick a training squad from about 60 players. I had to cull the first days trials down to 30 and then down to 18. I have no doubt I got my selections wrong on this, the system then was rubbish. I am sure some very talented kids were slipping through the system. I hated that year, I spent the entire year knowing I would have missed some players.
There will be talented players still slipping through the system but to a much lesser degree. However it needs another review to look at where there are weaknesses.

Dunno if you are taking about kids or what - but this is the womens Fed team picked at the end of the season. Pretty much picks itself apart from about four actual decisions

The first being that the trials are run by a club contradicting what Capital apparently viewed as important when selecting the coach for the team.
The other being there has been a 'mandate' handed down from NZ Football to each fed to hire females where they can - often at the expense of top male coaches - who are slowly but surely turning their back on women's football.
the women's appointment mandate seems to have been short lived with the 17s, 20's, NWL appointments this year.
Were there Seatoun players that weren't selected or did the majority of them not go to trials? I know some of the Seatoun players don't want to be apart of the NWL as they've 'been there done that'. A lot of the girls in that team switch to Futsal in the summer as there is less commitment. Thats just my understanding. From looking at the team i wouldn't say there is much difference from last year.
were there better girls who made themselves available and weren't selected? maybe not
what about the younger ones - Kelsie, Grace, Cara, Tamsyn... bit odd.
Unless they are playing with men there is no Futsal. The Wellington women's league was a flop - two teams.

without knowing who put their hand up and trialed it's a bit hard to knock the selections

I understand.
That mandate was first put in place in 2012. In 2013 the NTC had a get together where they had all female coaches for the NTC girls. There were some very good women coaches but the standard overall wasnt consistent enough, not yet enough depth. In 2014 the NTC's had mostly male coaches on the girls side of things. I dont know whats happened this year.

The above is more being curious as to why the Seatoun girls are not trialling...
Earlier I was talking about Capitals contradictions in terms of 'neutrality'.
Unless capital clarify things - perception is reality.

“Tom has been involved with Capital for a long time and knows what we are trying to do within the programme. This is very important considering the short turn-around between now and the commencement of the ASB Women’s League season. His neutrality in the senior club space is also important when undertaking a role such as this.”
Did someones Wife / Sister / Girlfriend miss out
Nope. Just talking about the way that trials were run, the UH theme (staff and players picked including prem players)... On the whole I think it could be done better.
I have been saying for a long time that capital should be able to select girls from the season (essentially) and invite them to trials.
Not the other way around. Then players who 'trial' know they are at least in the picture and might be more encouraged to give it a shot. Especially the fringe players that play in the CL.
... And perhaps then they wouldn't need to put young prem players straight into national women's games... Could impact on them mentally and physically.
Did someones Wife / Sister / Girlfriend miss out
If so she clearly doesn't play for Upper Hutt
I was at one of the trials and I thought there was some independence on the selection team, Wendy Henderson & Briar ???. Then Maureen Jacobson was there along with the coach Tom so not all Upper Hutt bias completely. From what I was told the Seatoun players weren't nominated. Kelsi Rutene came along to watch as was talked into playing on the night.
Tom is the coach is he not ?
Did he perhaps suggest Wendi run the Upper Hutt side against the rest ?
Is there a benefit in doing that ?
Is Wendi formally involved ?
Is it possible to select players who don't want to be involved?
Maybe some questions that should be answered ,and i have no idea, before you make the suggestions you are
so Sthn Jeff hasn't got a clue, and Unknown Q you should refer to them being reserve team players rather than Prem players. Not unusual for a first team player in a second grade be selected for a rep team but unknown for a reserve team player to be really
Wendi was asked to help run the trials. She has been assistant coach for the past 3 years (could be longer than that, i don't know). Bria was appointed Technical Analyst by Natalie Lawrence last year, i assume she is continuing in this role. As for Maureen, we'll i don't see any issues with having a former NZ rep, who would have done her fair share of trials, to help out and pass on her words of wisdom.
Tom is head coach and i would assume he has selected a team that fits in with his playing model.
With a tight turn around form Natalie to Tom, I'm don't blame him for seeking assistance from the former assistant coach (Wendi) to run the trials.
is Wendy not a coach this year? That does make it weird..
Don't think so.
Who else would have run the trials? did everyone expect Tom to do it by him self?
I guess not If he hasn't been watching CL recently (not sure if he has or hasn't)
Many of those questions were rhetorical Feverish. Maybe as you say I don't have a clue but I don't like accusations / speculation that could be right or could wildly incorrect thrown around by others who are probably in the same boat as me
I guess not If he hasn't been watching CL recently (not sure if he has or hasn't)
Think he's often been down coaching juniors at Memorial on Sunday's so may not have seen any CL games this season
why isn't Wendy coaching?
